;)) I routinely turn the license fram e around so it is blank. Then I put my own frame on. The front one is my [very] old "Redheads do what blondes dream about", the rear one says "Beware the Feisty Redhead". DH wants me to get a frame that says "Go ahead - run my plate" since so many cops do just that, see I have a confidential tag to the return, then honk the horn/flash the light/wave [all due to my place of employment!]

The magazines I like for reading about quilters and big quilt shows are the National Quilting Association magazine and the American Quilting Society magazine. Both only come out quarterly but they are so good.

I like the ads and often sit down to a pile of mags and skip the articles and read the ads to see whats out that's new and might be worth a try. I go back and read the articles too, but the ads are the only way for some of us poor isolated stitchers to keep up with new developments and tools.
As for using the designs in a magazine - well, I love to see the patterns, and often use them as a starting point, but I've never followed a pattern exactly in my life. Ditto recipes. And I don't encourage any of my students to slavishly follow patterns either. Change the borders, turn the blocks on point, be different. For their first quilt (usually a Round The World with a pieced border) I often let them run out of fabric before they finish their planned borders, just so that they can get used to the feeling early. Change the plan and get on with it. No-one has ever been unhappy with their first quilt yet and they will never be traumatised by running out of fabric just before the end of something - at least not totally traumatised (lol)
Oops, I forgot I get those too! American Quilter has many good articles about quilters and techniques.
They just did a remix of the graphic design to make it "more modern looking" - Frankly it makes them look a. more like every one else and b. harder to read and follow the flow of the articles. I like it far less now.
