HELP! Figure This Out for Me (On Topic)

Totally guessing...sew both edges of the 1.5 inch piece of fabric to the back of the quilt separately, like a casing. Don't form a "loop" by folding a 3 inch piece and sewing the two cut edges together as a single attachment.

silly me, i read that as just one side attached and could not for the life of me work out what it might be for. read a second time and i agree with you, Rita. that will be the pocket/sleeve flat against the back of quilt, rather than a looped rod pocket. everyone wants something different, argh, oh well.

Just do as it says : sew a strip of 1 1/2 inches wide by the width of the quilt 1/4 inch from the top of the quilt on one side only - they probably will be using that strip to pin to a pre prepared covered hanging rod

That's what I was thinking. They might even intend to staple the strip to a wooden frame. They are talking about a hanging sleeve (a narrow channel of fabric along the back), and not loops (like in tab top curtains), at least that's how I interpret it.

This is the way I read it too. It specifically says *not* to form a pocket, which you would if you sewed down both sides of the strip. Very strange for sure. But, as Jess says, they must have something to attach the 1 1/2" wide strip to.

I meant to say, was a strip that could be used later as a hanging sleeve. Sometimes my brain is thinking faster than my fingers can type. Sorry about that.

I read this as what it sounds like - get a 1.5" piece of fabric and sew one side of it to your quilt from left to right. What I imagine they will do is take the other end of the fabric and tack / pin / staple it to the display boards.

If all else fails.....ask!

Why not do both and then you are covered? Take a 3 1/2 " strip, wrong sides together sew with 1/4" seam the length equal to width of your quilt at the top. Finish both ends, and sew onto back. Now you have a hanging sleeve for later for you. On top of that sew the "strip of 1 1/2 inches wide by the width of the quilt 1/4 inch from the top of the quilt on one side only"

This is exacly how my husband and I interpreted it too, but just wanted a sanity check. It's just weird compared to other quilt shows.

If any one is in the Lahaska/New Hope, PA area my little quilt will be hanging in the Gazebo at Peddler's Village from January 15 - April 1. I entered a jacket in this little show and won second...skipped a year...and now am entering a cute little quilt I did one day on a whim. We'll see!!!

Sounds to me like they plan to pin the quilts up, pinning through this 1 1/2 inch strip of fabric. I've seen this done at several quilt shows.
