Catching you all up

Hi all, I want you to all know that I am finally back on-line. I am in my new house now, and it needs a lot of work, but landlord is deducting what we do to the house from the rent.

Now for the bad news. Halloween night my oldest step-daughter (Sheri) lost her oldest boy (Austin) in a car accident. They say the boy that was driveing was going 100 miles an hour, lost control of the car and hit a tree. He had just got his licence. It broke Austin's neck, plus he had blunt force trama to his head and a crushed chest. She has 2 other kids, a girl and a boy. The visitation is tomorrow (Sunday) and then the furneral is Monday at 1. PLEASE keep us all in your prayers, expecially Sheri this is so very hard on her as it is Earl, problem is he is holding it in and that isn't good.

I am getting ready to make Sheri a hug quilt, have to get my sewing table cleaned off. I have the blocks I am going to use already made. I will post a picture as soon as I get it done.

Do have some good news, no wait GREAT news, the VA paid Earl back pay on his disability all the way back to 2005. He kept telling them they weren't paying him enough and he was right. It was a VERY nice check.

Kathy,

First, I'm so glad to hear from you again. It's good to know you're in your new place and in a much better situation.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sheri's son. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child or, in Earl's case, a grandchild. Please know you're in our thoughts and prayers.

If you need blocks to help with Sheri's hug, I'll be glad to send one.

I'm so sorry to hear about your step-grandson. How horrible for your family. You'll be in my prayers.

A similar thing happened here last night about 2am. A speeding car slammed into a tree at the end of my driveway, flew up 6 feet into the air, hit a pine tree, flipped around 180 degrees, then landed upside down. The car toppled a half dozen small pines, sent a 50 pound rock about 50 feet up the road and many car parts across the street.

The kids ran up my driveway and escaped out into the woods to avoid the police. I called 911 and the authorities were able to get one more kid out of the car with no more than a sore back.

When the wrecker came to pull the car out of the woods it was impaled upon a pine tree and completely uprooted the tree. I don't know how any of these kids survived, I wonder if some of them were thrown out. There was very little left of the car, just a pile of rubble. By looking at the skid marks this morning, the car was already going sideways before it hit the first tree.

How can we make kids realize that they're not immortal?

Hey Kathy,

What a heartbreaking tragedy. You are all in my prayers.

Happy to hear the good news. It really "paid off" for him to keep after them.
