Children's Sewing Class!!

I taught Day 1 of a 3 day class for 4 8-10 year old girls. We're making pillowcases (2 of them).

Each day is only 2 1/2 hours (would rather not tempt the attention span... it is summer and they are 8-10!)

Today we picked fabric, pressed the accent and cuffs and pinned the accent to the cuff. Wednesday we start sewing!

We're doing the "tube" method -- with French seams down the sides... My goal is to finish one on Wednesday... and the 2nd on Thursday. We'll see how it goes.

As the mother of 3 boys (3 men??? 28, 26 and 21) -- spending time with the young girls has been great fun.

Later this fall/winter... we may do a small quilt! Time will tell! But for now -- I'm having great fun!!

That's something I've never done, Kate. Sounds like the age, size of class and project are just right. Please report back to us and tell us how it is going. We wish you great success and even hooking a quilter or 4. Polly

My oldest son went to a sewing class when he was 12. He came home and said he loved the class. It was all girls and he was the only boy. He loved it! And, eventually made a nice quilt.

Happy quilting,

Lenore
