Direct from Mesue herself!!
Dear RCTQ members. Deb told me that Karen J. had posted the latest news about my condition on the newsgroup. I went to find it, and I guess Karen and I got our wires crossed, because there are a couple of little errors that I want straighten out.
First of all, although it is true that I don't download RCTQ anymore (simply because of the volume of email that you all create ), but I do check my email EVERY morning, so if you want to get in touch with me, please email me at snipped-for-privacy@aol.com. I'm no longer able to drive (because of the pain meds I'm on) and my email and telephone calls are sometimes the only way I can connect with the world.
Second, and it's no big deal, Karen said that they were going to try a more toxic combination than we've been using. Actually it's LESS toxic, as my oncologist was treating my cancer very aggressively. Although this will be a less toxic dose, it's possible I may respond to it, as everyone's body responds differently to different drugs. Besides, it's better than doing nothing, which was my other option.
In the mean time, I'm trying to make appointments with other doctors at different cancer centers, because they may have access to different clinical trials than my own hospital and it's associated college. My oncologist will not be offended, and hopefully maybe we can find an effective treatment.
I guess that's all for now. I'm actually functioning pretty well, (as long as my pain is under control), and a friend and I are going to try to get to the movies this week and see "Finding Nemo". A nice little "relaxing" movie and more importantly, something "normal".
Love to you all, and thanks for all the kind words you wrote on the newsgroup.
I'll be in touch!
Sue
