Fabric district?

A friend of my DT's is coming to the US in August and will be in California for part of her time here. She's been told not to miss the fabric district in Los Angeles, but she has no idea where that might be, and neither do I. Can anyone give me some directions to pass along to my DT's friend? I told my DT that this would be the best place to ask.

Thanks! :)

Wow! That was a quick answer, Pat. Thanks, I did suggest to DT that she google it, but I'll go ahead and do that, too. :)

They even have their own website:

If I can find my notes, I'll dig out the name of the chinese restaurant that was recommended. Though I suspect your DT knows chinese food ;-)

Sandy,

This is a place I've heard mentioned several times - not in LA fabric district though. Anaheim M & L Fabrics 3430 W. Ball 714-995-3178 714-847-2202

10:00-8:00 10:00-6:00 Open Not a quilt shop, but carries lots of cottons. Super Prices. Flat folds for $2/yd

I have created a (mostly) quilt shop list for Southern California (as well as Northern California). I'd be happy to email it to you. I can't vouch for any of the stores, because I haven't trekked down that way, so you'd have to call ahead first. I do have some LA garment district stores listed as well. Let me know if you want the list.

Thanks so much, Pauline! I'd love to have the list! :D You can email me at sfoster1 AT embarqmail DOT com -- just remove the spaces and change the capitalized words to symbols. :)

Thanks, Taria! So the LA district isn't really for quilting? I don't know if she's into clothing construction, but I'll pass that info along. :)

Thanks, Marcella! That's great! And concerning the Chinese restaurant, my DT wasn't in the area where they made food that we typically see as belonging to that "type" -- she was in the north, where the food was not as nice. I'm sure she'd appreciate knowing! :)

Oops! I also forgot to mention that it's not my DT who will be there -- it's a friend of hers who wasn't in China.

Thanks! I'll pass that along, too.

That is correct. I bought my prom dress (many) years ago in the garment district, which is what we called it.

Sure - do you want Northern & Southern California, or just Southern California?

Just Southern CA will do - we are only there for 7-10 days.
