New Old Fabric Stash!

Yesterday, I made a pre-Xmas dinner (chicken not turkey but dessert was Xmas pud) at my sister's place so that we could spend some time with a family friend who spends Xmas in the UK every year. A couple of days ago, she had phoned to ask me "Would I be interested in a bag of 'scraps' that she'd found in her storage closet?"...any that I didn't want could be tossed out. Three bags later: velvets, Thai silks, wools, a bolt of dark green linen, interfacings, cottons, broadcloth and a selection of other home dec pieces....definitely, it won't be tossed! jennellh

I am lucky - this is the second time that she has sorted her closet for fabric bits - the first time, I received many scraps of fabric that she had used during her teaching days. Most of the pieces had been used in projects for the kids to make and included shiny vinyls as well as cottons, etc. All the colours were very very bright! jennellh

These fabrics were from her previous dressmaking days and are definitely high-end selections. She had bought a lot of the silks when she did exchange teaching in Thailand and she had also had many outfits made for her during her time there...she described the process of being measured and fitted by the Thai ladies as an experience. The ladies were 'impressed' by the amount of fabric necessary to create one outfit for Gill's size! jennellh
