fabric my kids chose

DH was out with the kids and they each chose a fat quarter bundle.

DS chose spiderman fabric that he had been wanting for ages, it's the first picture, two have largeish pictures and would likely have to be fussy cut, the other two are smaller motifs, one blue and the other blue and red, it seems a good balance of colours, so it seems that making a feature of the first two, framing it somehow with the 2nd two would be the way to go. I've seen a pattern many times that has blocks which are squares in squares, it would be quite small out of only 4 fat quarters, but that's fine, I'm thinking it's going to be used as a wall hanging or possibly in the car, something like that. Any other ideas?

DD (actually really DS on her behalf) chose bowling based fabric, there are two different prints of pins, one of bright coloured stars, which I love, one that's basically black and white check, which is interesting and a blue with some swirls and dots that I don't think matches all that well. It's all very black and white and it stumps me a bit, I think adding fabric to this will be a necessity and typically, I don't think I've got anything, I think the brights that I have are just slightly off! Again, I'm thinking wall hanging or general comfort quilt, possibly crib/toddler bed sized if I have to add stuff to it, so far nothing springs to mind!

Cheers

How about using solids in coordinating colours to "bulk" it out!

that's the plan, but it's the using novelty prints that I have the problem with, I've only used one once before and it was a specific design that I then bought fabric for.

Some of those would make great blocks, others look more like quilting designs. Sure, go for it! Roberta in D
