Fall Day in the South (long)

Its in the mid 70's with little breeze. Sun is out and no threat of rain. The type of Sunday afternoon made for quilting. The dishes are all washed and dried from lunch, The house is quiet, no TV, Radio, lawnmowers or weedeaters going. Just quiet. A-h-h a relaxing afternoon with no worries of the world at the moment. The kind of afternoon to sit in a swing on the porch and watch the world go by.

Now for some quilting. Nothing big, just pinning a few blocks together and not thinking of anything.

So I go into the quilt room to retrieve my basket of blocks that I am working on along with straight pins. A great time for just quiet play. sounds great, Huh.

W-e-l-l-l-l, not for long. Miss Lucy, Mama cat, wants to be fed. I get out the new bag of kitten food. She seems to like that better than regular adult food.

Here comes the new brood, 6 in all. Three boys and 3 girls. Loud little mouths going, must meowing up a storm. Got to watch where I step, they are all over the place. So I proceed to feed and water them. OK back to my perfect Sunday afternoon of quiet contemplation and quilting.

Oh CRAP her comes Mama wanting more food. Up on the swing, crash diving into the basket of blocks, over go the box of pins.

Back to the bag of food. A diversion while I pick up all the pins and straighten out the stack of blocks and get back to the layout of them. Mama is trying to wean the little ones with my help. Right now 4 are nursing while two are playing jump on the giant's foot and lets try to bite a toe or two. Oh lets see what the gaint has in that basket she just sit down. Fabric, what is this new toy. A-h-h its tug of war time. You get one end and I'll get the other. Now lets tumble in and out of the basket while pulling out all the blocks to play with. Oh we need our brothers and sisters to get in on this play time. Meow, meow. OK everyone in the basket... with Mama looking on.

Oh well, pick up the basket, pins and blocks, head for the living room and be sure to shut the sliding glass door so Mama won't drag the little ones in the house. So much for a quiet afternoon.

Oh goodness all those little faces in the glass door just staring, wanting to play with fabric. QI's in the making. Now where did I put that bag of scraps. Lets go play instead. We'll take a nap later.

So how's your day going.

Howdy!

LOL!

Thanks, Kate!

R/Sandy--in beautifully chilly, rainy north Texas where the cat is hiding under the bed because the rain drops are hitting the skylight in the bathroom and she's scared! ;-D
