Just back from class at my LQS. Didn't have a lot of time to shop but I got a FQ purple and red batik with a gold crackle. Will be going to their party/sale day on Sat so will do some more S.E.X if you can wait till then.

I'm glad you enjoyed the thread, Polly, 'cuz that's all I was able to buy. Ran out of time to really shop (and I'm still paying for my sewing machine -- fixed incomes can be the pits at times ), but I thought of you as I was paying!

Your wish is my command! Got out the plastic, went to quiltshops.com, found some wonderful batiks with gold - on sale too - and SPLURGED :-) No FQ for me - I ended up with 8 yds (it was on sale, you see) should still fit into one of those flat rate envelopes (what is a yard more, if it does not cost more postage).

Now to wait two or three weeks, hope the customs guy is asleep when my package comes by his desk (well the fabric was on sale, so customs will still be cheeper than 8 yds full price) and then I have your fabric.

Uschi thinking about a Polly-Hurrican-Quilt, hmmmm....... ;-)

Will needles and thread do? I ordered 3 packets of needles to feed my overlocker and some thread to hem up a pair of new jeans for DH over the net late Friday afternoon, they arrived yesterday. Now I have to clean up the table to find the machines...

Oh, no. Phooey. Don't make a hurricane quilt. How about hearts and angels and love? There's just heaps of that around. Polly

Polly, I shopped for batting today for Katrina quilts and had a phone message when I arrived home, A friend who makes serged seam quilt tops for me said she made 48 and wants to know when I can pick them up. She's amazing! Reminds me of YOU! Nancycog in MD

Hi Polly I fed my stash today. It was only a meter from the reduced table and i paid $7.15 instead of $8.99. The background is yellow with red flowers with big smiley faces in the middle of the flowers. I did it for you Polly and because I need more yellow for the Manx squares I have been doing

OK, will probably fit better with all the light blues and purples.

Uschi (who'll only get 5 yds, the other three fabrics were probably gone already :()

I have some of that print, it makes me smile just to pass by it. Is that a Happy or what? Polly

Also quilted comforters and bedspreads make good padding for the homeless sleeping bag quilts.

I wasn't planning to, but I fed my stash yesterday, too. I bought 4 yards of a turquoise mottled print, for use with a hawaiian print in a baby quilt and matching shorts. There should be enough leftover to stash...LOL. Best part was, it was only $2 a yard...and still good quality stuff. Gotta love clearance bins/shelves.

I just bought nearly $100 worth of 30's repros and a book about quilts from era (Kansas City Star Quilts: outside the box - hexagon patterns). I don't even like 30's repros.... so you can see the effort I am making on your behalf. When I sew this stuff up into Glorified 9-patches for the swap I'm in, I will think of you. :)

You will change your mind. I didn't like 30s repros either but have enjoyed everything I've made with them. You don't have to team them with the usual unbleached muslin, they can really put on some cheer combined with a yellow small print or pink or .... Polly

I don't like 30s prints, either, Jo! I have to admit, though, that I have seen a couple of quilts made from them that have knocked my socks off.

30's repros aren't my favorite either, but sometimes a particular quilt just calls for them. My mother embroidered a lot of blocks for children's quilts. The 30's repros seemed the perfect fabric to go with the embroidery. Most were simple 4x4 block settings with sashings to make a crib size quilt, but the last one is twin size.
