Hhmmm know just what you mean about football fanatics.
In Australia it depends (to some extent) on which state you are from which football code you follow - Rugby or Aussie Rules. But whatever you follow you are usually a fanatic.
Many many years ago I joined an organisation called the Anti-Football League here in Victoria. It was started by a newspaper columnist. You paid your membership (can't remember how much but not a lot, and proceeds went to a local charity) and you got a lapel pin in the shape of a square football. On the day before the Grand Final they would take a football out into the middle of the MCG (biggest football ground here at 100.000 seats and scene of the next day's "festivities") and get a celebrity to shoot it. Then those who wanted could go on a weekend bus trip that guaranteed a good time and no radio/TV/newspapers until Monday. My family (Magpie supporters and a few players oo - only a Victorian would understand what that meant!!) were all horrified! Sadly it no longer exists.
Have you considered starting such a group yourself? rofl
I just flipped channels to see that we have it televised live over here too. Of course US football is very confusing to us. We have one team on the field for the whole 100min match so we cannot understand changing offensive and defensive players over all the time, and a football game where only one player ever kicks the ball is a bit of a mis-nomer to us. And the heaviest protective gear worn by most players over here is a mouth guard!
I'm afraid most of us foreigners are just bemused by the whole Superbowl-thing!!!
But I hope all the fanatics have a good time cheering themselves voiceless in support of their team.
