I think this is the one where you were doubtful about the colours. I think it's great! Colours don't have to be predictable for little ones. I like the pattern, too. . In message , Estelle Gallagher writes

Love the ducks! I have 4 baby quilts to make this year, one for my niece, and by BFF's DIL is expecting in June, and her niece is expecting twins as well. Since I have no grandchildren of my own, I have to look after everyone else's!

Oh, Estelle, welcome to my world! I love picking the pattern, choosing the fabrics, cutting, piecing and most of all the binding. But I am totally intimidated by the quilting. I have been sending anything larger than a table runner to a quilter but it has taken a big toll on my quilting budget. The six family quilts I did for Christmas were pricey but worth every penny. I just picked up a king sized quilt from the quilter which is a wedding gift for the son of a very dear friend of more than 30 years. It was $282 just for the quilting but she did a beautiful job. It's a triple Irish Chain so I wanted something special. I have quilted one king sized quilt on my machine but it was not fun and it was not the pretty stitch that this quilt now has.

I am just going to have to bite the bullet and "get over it" as my sister would say about doing my own quilting. With the prices of everything else going up, I need to cut back on my "nonessential" spending. Geeze, I hope it doesn't get bad enough to give up getting my nails done every other week! I'll go grey and grow my hair long first!

Luckily, I have enough fabric and batting to keep quilting for a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long time! I may be totally grey and wearing a pony tail by then, but I will still be quilting - with nicely manicured nails I hope.

Oh, I meant to mention that I did take a close up view of the two quilt pictures to see how you quilted it and you did a very nice job and very appropriate for a baby quilt.
