Wow, Joan! That's gorgeous. Do you know, it might be heresy, but I think it looks even better in the frame on that pale mount. I love it. Maybe I'll get some of my tinies done like that. It's a wonderful idea. Someone once told me that the success of a quilt in a show/contest does truly depend on the judges of the day; that, if you submit it for another show, it could well win by miles. I've never tested the theory, but it's an interesting thought. I think it's a star quilt - official ribbon or not. . In message , joan8904 in Bellevue Nebraska writes

I really like your mat color Joan. I had a very difficult time when I framed mine to give to my DH. I used a suede-like navy blue that I'm not sure I would chose again after seeing it all finished. Hindsight.

I know what you put into it....you win a ribbon in my book! Did you find it to be one of those projects that you couldn't put down? I think I was afraid it would all fall apart if I left it alone. (Or I would forget how to do it!) Are you hanging it in your home or giving it as a gift? It's a wonderful project! I'm sorry someone didn't see the perfect piecing and color choices and reward you.I think framing the small projects give them some extra importance. I have also used a method I learned from Frieda Anderson to mount small pieces. You can put the small quilt on top of a plexiglass background. Have a piece cut out about 2" bigger than your piece.....all around. Then drill holes for a hanger (behind the size of the quiltlet) and put picture hanger wire though. Drill two small holes (again inside the quilt size) at the corners and sew your quiltlet to the plexiglass mount. You could also use some sort of adhesive....velcro maybe, to stick it to the plexiglass. Oh, and when you have the plexiglass cut at the shop, have the edges "flamed" to smooth them. I don't have a picture of mine. I'll try to get one if we need it.

Wow! Bet it would have won if they'd seen it in that frame. Clever! Roberta in D
