Fun t ime

I had a hoot today. My son's little girlfriend came over and I showed her how to thread a sewing machine and make and put in a bobbin and sew different stitches, adjusting the tension and stitch length and change feet and such. We sewed about two hours on different types of f abric bits and she got a real good feel for working on my old, old Brother machine. I picked the thing up for less than $50, but it's a good machine. Really solid, completely machanical but still with several nice stitches. Easy to use.

Then the most fun part. I packed up a little case with extra machine needles, some rulers and other doodads, lots of thread, some fun fabric and sent her home with the whole shebang, including the machine. The girl was all smiles. She's really an artist and wants very much to sew but has no support. Nobody in her house sews and although they bought her an inexpensive machine several years ago, she had nobody to show her how to make adjustments or even thread the thing. She thinks it's broken. I told her it might just need to have a few little adjustments and be threaded correctly. She had no idea that it would matter which way a bobbin went in or whatever.

We really had fun. She got to play with my Embellisher a bit. I love getting a young'un hooked on sewing/quilting.
