Grrr - sewing but not strictly quilting related

I'm having a bad sewing night. Ever have one of those? Things have puckered, snagged, snapped, run out, been uneven, wonky, wobbly. I've sat on pins. I've measured, cut, then discovered I've cut an inch too short but I *know* I measured correctly. *Every* *single* *time* I put down my scissors they turn invisible for five minutes before miraculously becoming visible again. I know they turn invisible because the place I find them in is somewhere I already looked five times.I give in. Clearly the planets that govern my sewing skills are misaligned tonight. Perhaps my biorhythms are wrong for sewing. Perhaps the little folk are angry that I haven't left them a saucer of milk. Perhaps the cosmos doesn't want me to finish this cushion cover. Perhaps my gran was right and you should never try to sew when a scientific probe has just crashed into the moon.I'm going to bed with cup of cocoa, a good book, and a couple of aspirin.

not your fault - it serves me right for trying to calculate stuff while the kids are playing madly while somehow not *quite* climbing the walls in the process though not for lack of trying ;-) and anyway.. I sew with a 1/2"seam allowance no matter what measuring system I happen to be using at the time... for this project it's cm *not* inches and a metric seam allowence is usually counted as 0,75 mm which is

0,15 more than 1/4" (give or take an impossible fraction) so I counted 1,5 cm seam allowance instead of 1,2 cm and as I sew scant that heaped up a bit more so the end result is that if I trim the seam allowence I sewed earlier I'm home and dry :-D
