Halloween Swap!

As many of you know, I have hosted an annual Halloween fabric swap for 147 years now. At this point, I have a ton of Halloween fabrics (under heavy guard by the gargoyles and WoW toons), so I don't really need more. A temptress whom I will not name has tried to lure me down that path with a new A. Henry print she showed me, but my resolve is firm!

However, a woman from my guild told me about a Halloween *block* swap she participated in, and how great it was, and that sounded like fabulous fun to me! Not to mention a chance to use up some of my fabrics!

Here's what I'm thinking, and you can let me know if you are interested. If enough are interested, I'll finalize rules and post them here.

Any size block would be fine. Any style of block (paper pieced, applique, traditional piecing). Any embellishments should be washable or removeable (I like to *use* my Halloween quilts). If the majority don't care about washability, I could be bribed to change this one.

Each person would send enough blocks so each person in the swap gets one. For example, if 10 people sign up, you send 9 blocks (keep one for yourself). You get back the same number of blocks as you send, one from each other person in the swap. Blocks could be all the same, or not. Some people don't like making 10 blocks all the same, so why torture them (except as a hobby).

Each person would commit to following through on the swap. Stuff happens, but you would be responsible to inform the Swap Hostess (me) if you must drop out. Each person will commit to putting forth their best effort for their blocks. Last minute, slap-it-together blocks are no fun for others. I'm not expecting Expert Blocks, just do your best.

If a zillion people are interested, I may break it down into groups, so no one has to make a zillion blocks. I'm thinking of a deadline of sending in blocks around mid-September.

While you're awake, Wendy, give us an update on the 5,000 piece project. Not nagging, just wondering how it's going. I don't want to play in a swap unless there's someone here that would like to home a wooly Yorkie who is right tired of 110° heat. Polly

Wendy - Did you know that craftconn.com has tons of Halloween fabric on sale?

Wait... I have a 5,000 piece project? Dang. I knew I should have nodded off at guild when they were passing out assignments!

Awww...poor little thing! We have similar heat, but it's a *dry* heat, so it's not as bad. Does the Yorkie like lab mixes? He could come stay with Dexter.... :)

I think I might be interested. I'm about to make a Halloween block for my guild's yearly block swap. I could probably make several. I would want to get mine done before school starts August 14.

I only have =BD ton of Halloween fabric and bought some more today. Well, it was just a little leftover piece of little smiling ghosts. Couldn't leave them on the bottom of the flat fold table. . . . .

I just went there and stocked up on bat and witch fabrics for our Friday 13th Cocktail party for quilters in October.

Halloween is not big over here - but the cocktail party is fast becoming a much-anticipated event on the local quilt calendar LOL

Cheryl - dare I tell you? Equilter has a bunch of cute Halloween stuff on sale now too, I think 35% and if you wait until 4th of July, it will be 45% off for one day only. It was under the "holiday" sale stuff..... what are you going to make with yours???

I have just been looking at the Equilter stuff - nice!

I make small bags to hold black cat jubes and chocolate moulded cats and usually some other small trinket as a memento of the night. I have enough already to make a table runner down the 5m long table in the sewing room. Beyond that - I don't know yet.

This year I will try to post some pics of the "gang" in all our witch regalia!!

I tell ya Sandy, with all the fabric I've been buying lately, I REALLY need to watch for those good deals! And I love to "spread the word" when they're REALLY good deals! There's just nothing quite like a package of fabric arriving at my front door - well - unless it was personally delivered by George Clooney!

Wendy: Sounds good. I was thinking about your annual Halloween Swap the other day, but had the absurd thought that maybe I should start USING Halloween fabric, instead of just swapping it!! So, if it would be not more than about

12-15 blocks, AND I could make SIMPLE blocks, AND we stuck to PRE-Washed and washable goods, then yeah, I'm > As many of you know, I have hosted an annual Halloween fabric swap for 147

Howdy!

In your case, Madame Pirate, isn't it "ripost"?

swash, parry, thrust: ripost!

Have you done a pirate fabric swap, F/W?

I did do a Pirates of the South Pacific swap. We swapped batiks, tho, not pirate fabric.

I don't have HW fabrics to swap, but I ran across this while looking for something else, and it made me think of you. (just doing my bit of enabling for the day) NAYY
