Help! I can't stop!!!

What it does not mention is that freezer paper shrinks in one direction when ironed. So pressing it then layering it for strength would have the added benefit of removing the shrinkage factor. I know the shrinkage is not much (less than 1.5% ? - I seem to remember reading somewhere about

1/8" for every 10") but if you are making a big quilt it could be an annoyance factor. If you were making pieced 20" blocks that were rotated by 90deg for joining you would be out by a seam allowance on every join.

You're welcome. It's a really strange set up for videos!

They've changed the progs. now - its one on quilts using tiled floors in churches for inspiration. Strangly enough I was looking what quilting books our County Library has on Sunday, saw the book, and am waiting for its arrival. The author and guest on the show is Christine Porter. Its a book I was thinking of getting with my Christmas money, so now I really am tempted.

I haven't watched the other Simply Quilts prog. thats on. Its folded flowers, but am saving it for another day.

(The videos are divided into sections, but if you wait the next part follows automatically after the short advert break. Then if you want to watch the other video you click on the box on the left of the screen when the other video list appears, click on the first part, and the rest will follow automatically. You can also choose to watch just one section.

That's what's strange Sally. There are really two different sites on the HGTV site that has the SQ videos. There is the one you're looking at that has three or four complete shows in segments. Then there is another site that has all the segments listed separately.

But the second site's videos behave the same as the first if you start at the beginning. As there is an advert at the beginning of each section, I presume it is where the normal 'commercial breaks' fell.

I just tried it to see how it behaved. and it just followed through like the first. The first section was on art quilts, but the second, third and fourth were by Jennie Rayment, so you've got 2 UK guests this week! The two quilts shown right at the end of the fourth section are absolutely gorgeous.

I took a class with Jennie a couple of years ago, and have two of her books, but not the ones shown. The ones I have were from the time when she used muslin (uk calico!). I seem to remember that Pat on the Hill said that her miniature that won at Malvern was inspired by a Jennie class.

speaking of online videos... apparently there is one of the NZ National Quilt Symposium here last month. its from one of the usa designers, Bonnie McCaffrey. its on her website but i'm on dial up so cant get it. :( some of you will tho. hope you enjoy whatever they've got there.

That vidcast is just gorgeous. Only complaint is that is flashes the quilts a bit fast. It runs for over 10 minutes so the file is BIG (about 28Mb) but if you are not on dial-up it's worth it.
