Help with newsgroup signatures

Since my DH and I got a new computer with the Vista system, I can't seem to get my signature to appear automatically at the end of my messages. Also, you'll notice that in the "From" column, I'm "Alice in", rather than "Alice in PA". I know where I am, so can anyone tell me how to fix these things?

Thanks,

Alice in PA

i see you're using OE so easy peasy. click on tools/accts to fix the 'from' column, check the general tab/username. click on tools/options/signature to fix the signature. dont forget to click ok or apply as appropriate. off to watch Hillarys speech now while i eat lunch. hope i dont choke on anything. this ought to be interesting. cheers, j. to get my signature to appear automatically at the end of my messages.

Nevermind, Alice. We know where you are too. No matter. Meanwhile, back to Hillary, I am not a member of her fan club but I was very proud of her tonight. Polly

HA HA, Pat! This message will be a test to see whether I followed Jeanne's instructions properly. Thank you so much, Jeanne for your quick reply! My husband (the computer know-all) is out of town, and you explained it better than he would anyway!

did you remember to click 'ok' or 'apply'. i cant recall which is where but both might be needed. try it again. did you want that email addy to show up? bogus one for ngs are useful. you can always addy the fully written out using 'at' and 'dot' in your siggy. anything to bamboozle those spammers. j.

you can make different siggys for each email addy you might use in OE. also a different one for the ngs. use the advanced button at the bottom alongside the text box in siggys to set each text you type in. holler if ya get stuck. i'm online for a wee bit yet. j.

Jeanne, I just realized that there was a box checked for no signature on replies. I unchecked that, so here goes.....

OK, I think I have the "From" column issue resolved, and the signature. Thank you so much! I would prefer not to have any email address show up.....I know you've got the answer for that too, right? Thanks again,

siggy fixed then. now, iirc, you must show some email addy but use a bogus one like mine below. see also what yours shows. the important bit is what it reads after the @...aka what isp. ya dont want anything that might be a real one as this just clogs up that isp before it bounces. no point in that really, eh. ok, so email addy is on tools/accounts/news tab/click on the server there, then propertys. i used the same as below on both email addy and return addy. then click apply and ok. fingers crossed. j.

Oh, and I so wanted to be "Alice in" !

From one Alice to another, glad your siggy got figured out! Now if someone could tell me how to get rid of the two dashes that appear above my name in my siggy, that would be great! It does not appear in my siggy file but appears every time I use a siggy.

I'm not sure who's more excited...me or you! Thanks so much for your expert help, and please enjoy the nice weather! We're looking at rain for the weekend; the remnants of Tropical storm "Fay".

Yes, it's wonderful to have all my computer questions answered and solved; and especially when that help is coming from half way around the world!!

i see you're definitely the happiest. :)) i can sympathize with tropical storms tho i'm only assuming they are much like the edges of some storms that make their way this far south to skirt the top and edges of our upper north island. not much fun at all. so far we've not had many problems in our suburb of the city as they usually come in over the ranges out west of us then meander across the other side of town for the worst downpours and on to the coast out east. none of them are fun at all. i've grown to hate, really hate the sound of rain in winter here as i'm sure we'll get the worst of it and i'm just not up to dealing with any problems. dh would just head back out to work leaving me to cope. i dont cope well at all. even thinking about it now gives me the heeby jeebys (sp?). heres hoping your remnants are only the good ones found in fabric stores. special strength and hugz to those in the path of that rotten old gustav. grrrrrrrr. j.

heehee, just keep'n myself busy and out of mischief. dh just came home and told me our ds, his g/f, her folks, her bro and sis are all flying to vancouver on special 12hr internet only booking flights on air nz for the amazing price of $700 round trip. usually about $3k. i'm sooooo jealous. i must watch these specials more closely i think. maybe something will come up that appeals to me. i'm so much better on short notice. i think these are so they fill the flights right up. cost money to them to send the flights out with empty seats. could be a really good way to go. j.
