Without words. Polly
.....She's just nuts (shaking head aimlessly).....that's all there is to it (she types in utter disbelief) ......all that detail (wiping drool off corner of mouth)......all that work and time and physical effort (head downward in hands beginning to weep)......all that beauty........ yep, she nuts, that's all there is to it...... ;-p
Dreamweaver...nah, not jealous at all!!! LOL

She is an incredibly skilled woman! I wish some of her talent would rub off on me just by looking at those works of art! I did get to see on of hers up close and personal in Paducah a couple of years ago - I think I just stood there and drooled!
wow! and wow again!! that is utterly amazing! Allison

Maybe....with the way she can knock these out, no problem. Heheheh. I'm amazed by her vision of what to actually DO on a quilt. Then the precision with which she can carry out her vision is another extraordinary feat.
Yes, Kathyl, that's exactly what gets me the most - how does she get those fantastic ideas. I suppose being able to do what she is able to leads to having more ideas? But, the whole range from idea to execution is fantastic. . In message , KJ writes

My friend Susan Stewart won a prize, but I'm still not sure what prize she won. She got 2 of her quilts juried in: Glory Hallelujah and Oriental Lace. You can see them in her gallery

There are some youtube videos where she demos her quilting. Quite amazing to see (go to youtube.com and use her name to search).

I read somewhere- on her website, I think- that she designs the quilting patterns and then designs the quilt top (size, appliqué, piecing, etc.) to fit within the quilting patterns! That seems so backwards to me, but it certainly works for her.

All I can say is WOW!!
Oh...that quilt is absolutely incredible! I just visited her website
- what beautiful quilts!!

Schaumber's quilts are a joy to behold. Usually, the winners' quilts at Houston (well, just those that I get to see the pictures of) are too weird; (IMHO, of course), annoying even. I'm sure their skills are spectacular but their creations disturb me. We don't want me to be disturbed. Anyhow - thank you so very much for the link to Susan Schaumber. Her talent is stunning. Polly
I'd like to challenge all those fussy award winning quilters to make a few special quilts for kids charities. CPS, Linus, children's hospital, that kind of thing. A real hug kind of quilt. Sharon Schamber seems a nice gal. I got to chat with her at Road2CA years ago. She is a real artist and a fine needleworker. Her quilts are geared toward show work. I sure don't see them on a bed with a cat hopping around on them although Maki cat probably thinks he is worth all the trouble! Taria
