The acrylic top (Plexiglas) wouldn't be all that expensive to have cut -- I had something similar cut a while back... and they rounded the edges. Much smaller than that -- but you could check at your local glass stores and get an estimate.
That table is pretty nice - and the clear top would let you see what is where in your storage drawers. I wouldn't think it would be that hard for someone with decent carpentry skills to make.

I would think the plexiglass would scratch easily. But I like the 'see thru' part. Very handy!

Cool stuff on that page -she's got an amazing quilt started.
Not so sure about the table. It looks very beautiful, but how do you change the bobbin without lifting up the machine? Maybe the front bit opens out -is there room for a hand to get in and do the bobbin? Is the acrylic strong enough to hold the machine if you take it out for a good clean? Anyhow, I really like having a big cutting mat right next to the machine.
I did ask a furniture-maker what it might cost to make me a sew>

In order to accommodate the IKEA desk idea in my sewing room - I'll have to decide about sending the dining room furniture to the SallyAnn and then moving my current sewing desk and my large Singer sewing cabinet. I now have my Pfaff sitting on a plain desk top; the brother

Wow! I can envision storing WIPs in those see-through drawers -- that would get them off of my ironing board.

The machine is a Janome and you change the bobbin by lifting a little cover in front of the feed dogs (ie from the top of the bed), so with this particular machine, no problem.

A couple years ago I saw a very similar table on an HGTV show .... possibly the old Mission Organization series. PAT
