I Did it!!!!

I got there at 9:30 this morning. It's 7:16 p.m. now and I've been home two hours and a glass of wine. Arms like jelly. Legs exhausted. Missed my nap. Tired as can be. But it's done. Not a masterpiece, but no bloops that I expected. No pockets or bulges. I decided to have fun. Put hearts all over the focus blocks which are cream with little black outlined geisha ladies on them. I mean, this quilt is for my bed in my bedroom. Nobody's gonna see it but DH and me. So I wrote our names, put Sunny Loves R..... and made pictures of our car and our favorite caterpillar and put other words and symbols that only we would understand. Oh I just laughed all day and put love into all the stitches and it's no masterpiece, no constant pattern all over. Nothing fancy. And not going to the quilt show for sure. But it's mine and it's done and tomorrow -- if I can move my arms (which is in question right now) I will put on the already-pressed and ready to go binding and wash it and we will sleep under my quilt.

I'm really proud. People came by all day. Looked, remarked how the quilt is "simple" and I just smiled. But I did tell about 10 people how to put a dimensional binding sort of thing to cover seams and help transition from one border to another.

Ok, it's over and I had fun and laughed and wore my body to a nub. Loved it.

Thanks for the good vibes.

Hugs and love, Sunny

Fantastic, it must be such a good feeling to finish and get it quilted the next day! There is a store nearish to us that has just bought a HQ16 that it's going to be allowing the public to use, but when I emailed I didn't get a reply, so I don't know what the current status is. A local mini chain closed one of it's stores due to losing it's lease, a lady that taught there decided that instead of working in other stores, she'd teach at home and she also has a HQ16, apparently many people have been asking her about classes and she just announced some today, 4 hour intros with max 3 people, I reserved my slot right away, I don't think she has any intention of opening it up for individuals to book a day on it, I don't think it fits her life and schedule, but I figure if I do that, it's a useful step and I do know a couple of people who have them, letting me use one occasionally might be a better prospect for them if I have a clue!

Cheers Anne

The love you stitch into the quilt will be there for you and you DH. Sometimes the simple quilts are the ones that are used and enjoyed the most. I gave a quilt to a baby boy that had a baseball field on it will kids in the stands and the parents would not let him use it. Upset me it was made for him to use and enjoy.
