I'm home. :)

I've just returned from a lovely week at Quilt Camp in the Pines. I'm pooped and have four new projects, three of which must be finished yet and one of which only needs a pearl button to be complete.

The weather in Flagstaff, AZ, was gorgeous this time -- temps in the 80s most of the time and rain at mostly-convenient times to keep things interesting (I wish they'd send some of it here, though ). I went with my friend Judy (some of you met her in Houston last year), and the car was packed to the roof! It was even worse coming home, though, because Judy *won* a sewing machine last night!!! It's a little Janome Sewist, a brand-new model, apparently, that will be perfect for taking places.

As for me, I won a book (Amish Inspired Quilts from Piece O' Cake), which is cute. I won it on my birthday, though, so that was kind of neat. Oh, and the evening activity that night was a lecture by Jennie Rayment, who had us laughing so hard that my jaw was aching.

I was really lucky in my classes this year. On Tuesday I had a class with Sharon Schamber on how to make her loopy corded piping, which is a pretty cool technique. Then on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday I had classes with Jennie Rayment; I'd take another one in a heartbeat! She's wonderful! She's a born teacher and is very organized and clear, keeping everyone going and yet individualizing where the students want her to.

Judy had classes on Friday and Saturday, too, so I just stayed in the hotel and sewed some more, which meant I made some good progress on the Jennie-projects. One is now ready to layer and quilt, and two are almost at that stage, though they'll need some extra "stuff" added after being quilted.

I came home to well over 1000 messages from you all, so I've had to mark them as already read. I'm sending my best wishes to all who deserve or need them, and I'm happy bouncing (I'm tired, okay? ) for all who should have something like that. :)

Sounds as though this year wasn't a disappointment, once again, Sandy! I love the sound of the combination of learning, work and fun. It really does sound ideal. Good to see you back safely, though. . In message , Sandy writes

Sandy, every year I read your report about your trip to Flagstaff with great envy. The classes always sound so fun and you enjoy your time there so much. I really, really want to travel back to my old home town of Flagstaff and check out the city. I have heard it's changed soooo much since I left

19 years ago for Missouri. I hope to schedule that trip to coincide with Quilt Camp in The Pines.... and the opportunity to meet you and enjoy some quilting and learning in that beautiful setting. Maybe next year.....

Glad you had a fun time and picked up some great knowledge and the weather was good!

Oh, you two - stop! Or I will end up planning another expensive holiday! Would be fabulous, though, wouldn't it? . In message , Leslie & The Furbabies in MO. writes

Oh, Leslie that would be wonderful. I also want to go up for "Camp" and have never been able to make it. Hopefully this settlement will happen soon and I am planning to put aside money for next year. Could be a good time for an RCTQ get together in the Pines.

Oh, my goodness yes has Flagstaff changed since I moved away from Williams

33 years ago. Shopping centers! We thought we were really uptown when they built a K-Mart in Flag in the early 70's. Houses extending almost (or maybe now to) Walnut Canyon. Even going north towards the reservation there are houses, that is until the run into the reservation border. It's not a little town no more! We bought fabric through Sear's catalog, at Hancocks, or from Sprouse-Reitz!

Oh, Leslie, that would be great! You *should* come -- it's just gorgeous in the summer, as you undoubtedly remember. And the classes are such fun. :)

Welcome home! I can't wait until the pictures start popping up on your website.

My girlfriend took the week long class from Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr. I can't wait to hear how she liked that.

On Saturday evening at the wind-down dinner, there were a couple of people with some show/tell from that class. They said their class was called something or other that had to do with crying a lot. I hope your girlfriend liked it, but I don't like to cry.
