Finished!

I almost forgot to post that I finished a quilt the other day! Last month Jennie Rayment came to town, and I was lucky enough to take her Cosmic Happenings class. She's such fun and so professional -- no sitting down and working on her own projects or slacking off for her! The version I made has only four blocks, but I'm quite happy with it and hope the recipients will be, too. :) I've posted it on my blog (URL below my signature) and on my web site at .

That's really great, Sandy! Her new designs are so different, aren't they. I have her fifth book, but have only made stuff from her earlier ones. I am with you in liking the technique very much. . In message , Sandy writes

Yes, I started one ages ago, and have done a few blocks - with different designs in each block; but I have only made terribly slow progress. It will be one of the first in line to be 'finished' when I get going after the move! . In message , Sandy writes

Sandy that is amazing. You amaze me. You do such beautiful work. Maybe someday I'll be on that level. LOL. I just hope that someday - soon preferably - things will settle down around here so that I can start taking some classes. I've either been babysitting grandkids, remodeling a house or at some medical facility for something it seems like, ever since I got all my quilting/embroidery equipment. So I've never really had the chance to take the classes that I want to.

Michelle, unless i'm mistaken the border units are indeed curved by rolling folded edges back over themselves much like in cathedral window units. have a look at the vase in the pix above Cosmic Happenings.

my goodness Sandy has done a beautiful job yet again on her manipulations. one day i'm gonna get one of Jennies books and try some of those myself. i know how to do some bits but not enough of them. j.

Do, J. You will love it - it gives you a lot to do with your hands, with pleasing results. One tip : for this technique more than most, it is very important not to try to absorb the 'how to do' by just reading the 'words' (at least I found it so, and I can usually manage immediately!). Before you attempt a technique, be sure to have a piece of fabric in your hands and carry out the instructions on the piece of fabric. At one stage, I actually got DH to read them out loud to me while I did what it said with the fabric. It's just that it is so different. I think I'm only missing one of the first five books she published (self-published at the start), so I am definitely a fan! . In message , J* writes
