Quilt Camp in the Pines

Hey Sandy!! Just got the info that QCitP has the schedule of classes up. Now I am really hoping that the lawyer in Texas is as good as his word. I seriously want to go this year. Jennie Rayment, from Britain, is going to be teaching. She is a real hoot and a half! And I want to take some of her classes. Hope they don't get filled tooo quickly.

What do you plan on taking this year? Some of Carla Gulati's classes look like fun too.

Anyone else planning to show up in the wonderful pines of Northern Arizona this summer??

I'll be there again this year, Pati! I've decided on which classes interest me, but I'm debating how many of them I can handle.

First off, *which* pines in *which* part of northern AZ are we talking about? Flagstaff or Sedona or Prescott or Payson????? Also when exactly is "this summer"? You never know, it might be one of those times I need to go back to Lizard Land for a "family fix" and I could just sort of sneak a quilt camp into the mix :-). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

You'd be surprised how many people plan something to be held in Prescott and say it's "in the pines" to make you think it will be in the high country and that the temps will be under 90F!!!! In my book, Prescott, while at a higher altitude than Lizard Land (which is about

1,000 ft) is not what I consider "in the pines" :-))! That date is right after DSonILs b-day -- a time when DD usually needs me to be in Lizard Land. I'll have to check it out -- Flagstaff is for sure "in the pines" and only a few hours drive north of DD! Thanks for the info Sandy -- much appreciated. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

You gave all of the pertinent information, Sandy. :) I'm a bit late getting back to the group, but I've been attending this camp for ten years now, and I keep going back, so they must be doing something right. ;) This year's list of teachers is a bit more varied than it has been for the past couple, and I'm quite excited about it. There are many award-winning teachers who have been there in the past and/or are there this year -- it's a wonderful way to take a class from an expert. The biggest problem is deciding which of two classes given on the same day you want to take!

I'm hoping for some classes from Jennie Rayment, who is side-spllitting funny, and another from Sharon Schamber. I took some from Sharon last summer, but I haven't yet gotten around to finishing anything from them. :S It'll happen eventually, though.

Camp lasts for an entire week, but you don't have to stay that long, if it doesn't fit into your plans. Some people do, but others stay for one day or just several. I generally do four days, but that's flexible, too. ;) It's just that after four days I'm just about on overload.

Yep, the pertinent info is all here, thanks Sandy. (Note, am leaving the entire post so that those that for whatever reason don't get all the messages can see it. 2 Sandys have replies below.)

I agree about Jennnie Rayment Sandy. She is wonderful. I want to take a few of her classes. But am considering even if I stay all week, having a day off in the middle somewhere. Just to not get too overwhelmed.

Besides, it is a lot cooler up in Flag in July than here in the Valley.

Which classes are you signing up for, Pati?

There are also lots of people who do that. I don't, since I'm on a retirement budget and can't see wasting money on a hotel if I'm not taking a class.

That's true for me, too -- it's much cooler in Flag in July than in the LV area! It's such a nice way to get away, get some great classes, hang out with quilters, have *fun*!

Sandy, at the moment I am dreaming. I need lots of positive push on the lawyers/court in Texas in order to go to Quilt Camp this summer. Last we heard was that *if* everything is finally together, and we think it is, then the next batch of paperwork can be filed and first disbursements made from the estate. (Which would be most of it. then finish paying all the later bills, finalize the lawyers' fees and divide any remaining.)

*If* it all goes well, they were looking at starting the payout in March. I would be happy with the first half of April, but............

I would love to take any of Jennie's classes, and would like to take one of Carla Gulati's classes too.
