Interesting idea for 2.5 inch-wide strips...

If you have a bunch of 2.5 inch strips like I do, you might be interested in this video:

It was posted on one of the quiltlists I read, and it looks like it will make a more interesting quilt than I had in mind! (9-patch). Not that there is anything wrong with 9-patch, but I want to do some more interesting quilts, and I promised myself I would tackle quilts with more triangles and also "not make any quilts that had only squares". So this video is helpful with both resolutions!

I don't think you have to own that ruler, if you have a ruler with a 90 degree angle corner, and lines that are marked, you could use that.

That's a great way to use up left over binding strips - I always cut too much! It's very striking and less scrappy than the one below:

which I am currently working on. I have been busy ironing, trimming, sewing, pressing...... and the scrap bin just may be slightly less full.

I spent a very long time just looking at some of those videos, they make it so easy.

Thanks for the link.

I was really struck by this kit I saw on Keepsake..

I'd been planning to make a "leftovers" log cabin in greens since I can't close the "green" drawer anymore, but this caught my eye for a while.

In the end, I've decided to do a liberated log cabin in greens; doing a quilt-as-you-piece thing making the log block with background and batting as I go, then I'll join a la Coton Theory style.
