Jelly Rolls

My jelly rolls from e-bay rolled in today. I'm pleased with the mixture included--and, they are cut nice and straight.

Lenore...thanks for that info ! right now I'm sewing up jelly rolls that I got in a swap a couple of years ago. I really love those things ...to get so many diff. fabrics that go together is a plus for me ! Mary /VT

My quilter/friend's ebay jelly rolls have come in too. They're cut nicely but I don't really like the fabrics. We would guess that I've gotten what granny called "sot" in my ways. There's really nothing wrong with them, I guess, but I reckon I just need to choose each inch of fabric myself. Yes. Sot in my ways it is. Polly

Polly...was your friend in a swap or did she buy the jelly rolls?????

I once bought a pile of 4 or 5" batiks on ebay and hated every one of them...!!! Also bought some squares on ebay once that I tossed everyone of them as they were the cheapest fabric ever. Some buys or swaps are disappointing !

I can say that I was disappointed in a few swaps I've been in. One was an I Spy one several years ago and even though we were supposed to swap centered motifs most of the ones I got back were all over designs. That was the reason I joined the swap. Also, I couldn't use most of what I rec'd as a lot of the fabric wasn't that good quality either or cut so that you couldn't center a motif. Grrr !

I would think a swap of a particular line of fabric would be great. To get several people to sign up...each one pick a color, etc. and swap jelly rolls, or squares...then we'd all be happy !! : ) I have done a Thimbleberries swap but haven't done a thing with them. Mary

Neighbor quilter bought the jelly rolls on ebay and she is as happy as a clam with them. If I were going to do that, I would want to buy a specific line. That way, we would have some guidelines as to quality of fabric. (Maybe?) I love the idea of doing an I Spy swap. We need to think about that when the rush is over. I hope I've finished all of my gift stitching. Except for needing to call a wrecker truck to come pull me back up straight, finished is good. Polly
