Lenore, how was the retreat?

Did you get a lot done? What were the highlights? We want to enjoy the experience vicariously.

The retreat was wonderful. (This means that I actually got to be there the whole time, got some sewing done, go shopping and see friends.)

DH wasn't feeling well on Thursday a.m. so I had to load everything by myself (whine). When I got there, I joyfully unloaded my "stuff." I have a small table (24" x 48") that is adjustable. I take that to sew on. Of course, I had baskets and bags and boxes too--and, my trash can!

I spent most of Thursday getting a top and backing ready to go for a gift. I got a bamboo backing for it. I'm going to layer it this morning and get to quilting it.

On Friday, my friends Doris and Sue and I went to TSWLTH, Material Girls (Silverdale, WA) and Kingston Quilt Shop (Kingston, WA). I got a couple of big gorgeous pieces of batik. One was $8.49 a yard and since I took it all,

20% off. It will be the sashing and border for the "next project."

I made 365 or so half-square triangles for the "next project." This is a quilt for us. There will probably be other things squeezed in there.

The location of this retreat (Seabeck, WA) is so great--looks over Puget Sound with the Olympic mountains in the distance. There were a bunch of juvenile ducks whose adult feathers haven't come in completely yet. There was also a sizable flock of Canada geese. They all gathered under an apple tree and worked to break the apples up. They had a feast.

I saw a doe and her adolescent-no-longer-a-fawn baby. And, I saw a heron from about three feet away. And, coming back from the latte shop (a mile or so down the road) I saw two eagles fishing. I was so thrilled with seeing them that I stopped to watch. They are so magnificent.

My friend Sue has a wearable garment that is going to be in the Bernina fashion show in Houston. She worked on it last year at retreat and we saw the finished garment at the big Pacific Northwest Quilter's show in Seattle in August. We're so proud of her. She is sooooo talented.

Doris is making a king sized Double Wedding Ring for her daughter and son-in-law. She made a lot of progress. Her work is so meticulous. She also worked on a baby quilt. Her first grandbaby is due in December.

I was so tired when I got home on Sunday I hit the sack until I got up to "get ready for bed."

I so enjoyed our meet-up. The gals at the retreat thought it was so neat to meet on the Internet and then to meet in person. If anyone has a chance to do it, I highly recommend it.

Happy quilting,

Lenore
