Little WH

I have been giving my sewing table a try out. It works very well. No backache. The WH called Bluebell woods is the first in the Quilts and Things album. Any advice how to mount/frame it. It measures 10 1/2 x 8 1/2 . Would a frame and glass be ok. Otherwise fabric?

Could you use this technique:

I have used this technique on a bigger WH that I am just finishing to help it hang flat and straight.

In an ideal world Roberta.lol. I do cut all my scraps into 2 1/2 " squares though, and when I needed to do a mindless bit of sewing last week, made them into 4 x 4 blocks and it gave me back my urge to sew. I use those little squares as the sewing "scraps" when chain piecing too and before you know there is enough for another block!

Your WH is just stunning, Estelle! If it were me, I'd do a wood frame. I like the glass idea, but I think someone here said that if you live in a humid environment, glass may not be a good idea because it could promote mold growth--but I'm not sure.

Many congrats on job well-done! Michelle in Nevada

Estelle, that is simple stunningly gorgeous. I am so envious of the beautiful arty work you can do - first your postcards, now this. I can't find appropriate words. It was a drop-open-mouth moment for me. Well done you. Can you put it behind non-reflective glass? and I can't remember who it was saying the other day, that if you put it behind glass, there should be a spacer put into the frame so that the glass does not touch the fabric. Was it to prevent condensation touching it.? I'm so sorry to whoever it was that I can't remember their name, or exactly what was said, but I clearly remember the spacer part. . Well that is so kind of you to say that Pat. I have now bound it with fabric and put the little triangles top and bottom with wooden skewers across.lizzy posted the link. It has made it look a little small and I think it maybe should have had a border, but its done now. I did enjoy doing it though.

Don't know about framing, but it's just wonderful. Gen

I used a piece of mounting card cut the size of the whole wallhanging. I didn't know about the triangles, so I made an extra layer of backing, slipped the card in and slip stitched the opening up. It kept the whole picture taut, and because the card was strong it didn't bow at all.

Oh Estelle, it's gorgeous. I'm so jealous of your artistic ability. Yes, totally jealous. Your 'little wall hanging' is beautiful and graceful and shows the touch of a real artist. You are amazing. Sunny

Glass is fine as long as it doesn't touch the fabric. If the glass were to touch the fabric it could trap moisture against the fabric and cause deterioration/mold. The glass will keep the dust and dirt of off the fabric. Bonnie, in Middletown, VA
