Martha Stewart/Breast Cancer Survivor Show

I just got the call from the Dr. that I'm ok. I've had 3 or 4 biopsies in the past so you'd think I'd be used to the suspense by now.

Yesterday when they were showing me the 2 lumps on the ultrasound the first technician said they looked like cysts, which is what all of my others were, but when the doctor started poking them with the biopsy needle, they weren't cysts, they were solid, so I spent a very tense night.

Thank you all so much for your support. I needed to tell someone and I didn't want to worry my immediate household until I knew something concrete. Reading your good wishes helped a lot.

My church ladies group makes little breast cancer pillows with washable pillowcases for the hospital. I've made a couple dozen in the past. I'm going to start making them again as a thank you and to maybe bring some comfort to others who have to go through the trauma of mastectomy.

Isn't it about time to cure this damned disease!!

I'm sure glad to hear you report back Denise. I have been wondering how long it would take for your results. I'm so glad all is well.

Hugs, Taria

Denise, I'm so glad that the news was good! Whew! :D Yes, we definitely need a cure. I was part of an experimental study on medication some years ago -- I really thought we'd be further along in this battle by now. :S

The more biology I learn, the more scared I am. We actually have come a long way, but we still know so little!!! :o( And the more I know about how drugs are made, and the studies they are based on, the less I trust the medicines the doctors prescribe us. Except for the tried and true ones. But even then, for example I just developed an allergy to penicillins, given to me because of a sore throat that would not go away and was likely not viral. So, even things that have been around for a hundred years and we understand real well get iffy when you throw in our genetic composition, and our metabolism!

Since I just moved labs, I was browsing through my MSc Thesis, which I completed in 1994 or so. In the first page is a quote from "Antonio and Cleopatra" - In Nature's book of secrecy, a little I can read. This is what, almost 15 years later? I can read a bit more, but still I get the same feeling...
