Matching Lone Star quilts done

I don't think the pictures do them justice, but you can see that they are the same quilt, in two colorways. The bright one is for my nephew's wife, who is a real jewel herself and has been especially helpful to the family in the past year, and the camo version is for the nephew.

The camo version just came into my head full-blown when I was shopping for fabric for the bright one.

Nice work, Tina! You choose much more interesting and fun fabric combinations than I do. Can I go shopping with you?

The camo version ended up being SO MUCH FUN to shop for. I really never tried doing anything in browns and olive green and tan before, and there are so many pretty batiks in those colors!

How pretty! I like the camo one. If your nephew doesn't want it, I'll give it a home ;))

Come on, Louise, you don't call the orange-y gold and grass greens in Kate's Hug "interesting"? I think it's gorgeous!

Tina, those are *great*! Of course, I'm biased, since I like the Lemoyne star so much, but I do really love your fabric choices. Did you do the quilting yourself? :)

Wow Tina, that's just gorgeous. And you made two of them. Dance your heart out, girl!

I do the quilting myself, I love machine quilting, especially meandering. One of these days I will get serious and practice real patterns, but most of the quilts I make are either sofa or baby quilts

- I don't get too fancy. I did copy some Japanese woodcuts of ocean waves for a Mariner's Compass one time, and that was fun, added a little trapunto.

I might have broken the link from earlier (trying to get my albums in the right catagory - I'm a little new at webshots, but I really like it so far):

Thanks - but it was a total accident! I bought the fabric before all the blocks arrived, so I didn't know what I was doing!

Then it was serendipity!

Then double congratulations are due you, Tina! I love the motifs you put in the plain blocks around the stars! :)

The quilting motif in the plain blocks on the camo quilt, for you city folks, is the logo for the Browning Firearms, also known as the "Browning Buckmark". I think 90% of the pickups around here (and certainly in Louisiana) have this window decal in the rear window.
