May I come back now, please?

I was a member of this group when Noah was a lad, then _things_ happened.

I'm sort-of back-in-the-land-of-the-living now, and trying to re- establish old ties. I missed you all, but thought a litany of misery was inappropriate. Quilting has been a Godsend.

I still have gadgets. (Just sent for the new Gingher seam ripper with retractable blade... ) I am just about to finish hand-quilting that blue and white bed-quilt (about 2yds of border to go) I am making wholecloth quilts more than most others I am making useful-bags, yes, I still love bags...

Kate knows what happened. I didn't murder anybody.

Can I come back, please? Nel (am I still Gadget Queen?)

Welcome back, Your Majesty! When one Queen is absent, the rest of us are blue. After you've had a chance to play with your new Gingher seam ripper, please give us a report. I've not heard of or seen that one. Pat, Queen of Everything and Official Chocolate Taster of RCTQ

Nel, I am newer to the group than when you left, but by all means, do come back!

Welcome back, Nel! Of course you are still Gadget Queen......

Please do report back on your newest gadget. I love gadgets and I don't have the new Gingher seam ripper. Looks like something I will have to look into.......

Good to "see" you again Nel. Welcome back - but I have to warn you, you probably owe LOTS of people chocolate in absence payments ;-)

Nel, as someone who has just "come back" herself, and from one Queen to another, let me welcome you. Hope to hear lots more from you.

I cannot say how glad I am to see you back with us round the virtual quilting frame.

Ladies and gents, the trials have been enormous, the tribulations more than most could bear and remain alive, never mind upright, and the troubles continue, but Nel is with us again. You best wishes and encouragement for this very dear friend from my student days will be very much appreciated.

With love,

Thanks, everyone.

I like 'throws', I like that. (Sometimes spelling has a delicious freudian slip, don't-you-think?) I am far too personally acquainted with pillars and posts to know where I am tossed currently. (Visions of streams and torrents come to mind with the word current...)

However.... Onwards.

I find I am now living 15miles from the UK Quilting Museum.

It houses the Nation's QuiltingTreasures. What a joy it is to potter in and see what's about. Andthey have a lending library for Members of the Quilters' Guild, too.You can send for books if you want, but browsing is a lovelydistraction.

It's housed in old St Stephen's Guild Hall, so the architecture is beautiful too. And there's a real ale pub outside too, to dump the DHs. Either that or the Italian Deli and Coffee shop. But then there IS the rest of York to explore.

They're a bit short of gadgets in the shop, as yet, but I'm working on that...

Already joined their Monthly Group, and been to a Sandie Lush weekend (she's a gem, and a damned fine teacher, too. Catch her if you can.)

Feeling smug... aren't I lucky? Nel

I think Jeanne's version was closer to reality, though... The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune have been flung hard and fast, and, sadly, without due care and attention to the fall-out for family, friends, and sanity, in both her direction and Nel's.

I keep you both in my thoughts.

Oh, Nel! We are MOST DEFINITELY coming up next month. That's too good a temptation to avoid. :D Himself & C can amuse themselves with things like the Railway Museum and the coffee shop, and we can do quilty things before joining them in the pub for lunch.

And a trip over to Harrogate and The Remnant House wouldn't go amiss...
