You're not kidding! It's barely been making to mid 20's here, although the sun was out today, and we've had the A/C's on heat over night....

Hi Tigg!!! It's great to see you again! Have you been doing any quilting at all?

Hope everyone had a very happy and safe Christmas day. And were well blessed by "Santa" and family/friends. We survived the trip to Tucson for the family gathering. Late-ish this year again, no littles in the house, but they did arrive about the same time we did. (My niece has a 10 year old, a 2 year old and they also had her boyfriend's 3 year old.) Gifts were unwrapped and appreciated. Ham and tamales were eaten.

And we drove back to get home shortly after dark. sigh. It is very interesting driving with no dashboard lights.

Weather was pretty good, not too cold but lots of wind on the way down to Tucson in the late morning. Strange clouds of not-moving (at least to the way we were seeing them) dust. very strange....

Hope everyone has a good holiday week and a safe, happy, prosperous New Year.

I have been doing some quilting, over at Mom's. I think we're up to 9 quilts in the last year. 2 of the DWR's (both given away and have the arc pieces cut for mine), the last 2 were twin sized for my Aunt Perk and Uncle Jim who are now in the care center here (with their beds pushed together...it's kind of cute in an I Love Lucy kind of way).

I need to start a baby quilt soon. Have a cousin due in March, it's a boy. Gonna do something in bright novelty colors.

I'll try to check in more often. Sometimes I just forget to come see what y'all are doing! My bad.

Hugs, Tigg

Pics of Amber in her sweater I can do, if she'll hold still for the camera. Pics of me just don't happen, at least not willingly. Never have. Plus, I ain't taking one of me in my jammies, hair not brushed, still a bit bleary eyed, even if I was good at self-portraits. :)

Hugs, Tigg and Amber

I hope you all had a wonderful, Blessed, peaceful (and pieceful, if you could manage it!) Christmas!!

*raises glass filled with cider* And here's to an even better year, with more Blessings heaped upon ya'll, and what else? MORE piecing (and applique, too!)!!

Hugs always!!! Connie :-)

(Sorry it's late - we had a full house until late last night - MIL and friend from work who couldn't get home for Christmas - and by the time everyone left - around 7:30 - hubby and I were dead on our feet and fell asleep on the couch 10 minutes later!! We shoved two weeks worth of cleaning, wrapping, and decorating into 2 days!! 'Sides that, I promised hubby NO computer on Christmas!! I figured the nicest gift to give him was one day of NOT being a Quilt-Widower!! Love to you all!!)

Fuji apples work pretty well too. Plus they are huge so you don't have to peel as many.

I'm pretty proud of myself. I made a Brussels sprout dish and even ATE some of them. I hate vegetables... except corn and potatoes.

Of course, anything would taste good with that much bacon in it.

Wasn't feeling very festive yesterday but feeling a bit better today. Sooo a belated Merry Christmas... though it's still a holiday today here anyway. and all the very best wishes for the new year to you all....

A couple of pics of my dinner such as it was are on my blogspot if you're interested. We had goose and I made it almost according to Delia Smith's recipe for Roast Stuffed goose with prunes in Armagnac, except I used Spanish brandy which was just fine. But MY it was a boozy accompaniment. It also had two stuffings one in the neck and the other in the body cavity. A yucky job that was. My sewing skills came in handy.

Merry Christmas just a little late from Ohio! I've been so busy working and doing last-minute stuff I haven't had a chance to even skim through the messages lately. Hope everyone got all the quilty things they wanted, and lots of good holiday food. Looking forward to a better New Year!

We were not feeling very festive either since it was SIL funeral on Christmas Eve.

It was not the best Christmas dinner I had cooked, my heart not being in it. There were a few plates pushed aside with food still on them, my own included.

I also concluded that at nearly 72 and with my heart problems, it was time I hung my chef's hat up for family dinner parties. Let the younger ones have a go, I have been doing it for 53 years. It is getting a bit too much for me.

Your roast goose sounds wonderful. I have a set of well thumbed Delia Smith's cookery books. The first ones I look at out of the 100 or more cook books I have. Hugs Shirley

It's hard on the Holidays when you've lost a loved one. Our DD lost her fiance in a plane crash in Nov two years ago - but his birthday was Dec.

25th! It has gotten a little better each year, but non-Holiday feelings keep hitting her when she least expects it.

About "Mega-Dinners" --- We faced a similar problem quite a few years ago -- cooking for 20+ people got to us one Thanksgiving.... after dinner we got to talking about leftovers with the DDs, DILs, SOs, and found they each did their own turkey (at their house - so they could have leftovers ).... Same story about Christmas (turkey vs. ham vs. goose) Long story short: we get together for dessert at our house on both Thanksgiving and Christmas... easier on all of us, and we still get to see and spend precious time with everybody else.

Howdy!

Big hugs to you and your family, Shirley. Continued prayers, too.

I spent most of the day in the ER on Boxing Day. Seems I may have eaten something on Christmas Day that I was allergic to. Don't know what the heck it could have been because I did all the shopping and preparation of the food. So now I'm on steroids and anti-itching meds for the hives. The swelling of my tongue is gone, though, so I'm out of danger for now. This afternoon, since I'm feeling better, I'm gonna whip out the sewing machine and get to work on a quilt I need to finish.

Oh Shirley I'm so sorry about your SIL. Little wonder no one was feeling like making/eating the Christmas dinner. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.

I have a load of cookery books also (not bad for someone who dislikes cooking these days) and like you I usually go first to Delia's books. Hugs Elly
