Hi everyone, I am looking for a pattern to make a money pouch or necklace to wear under my blouse and to keep my money in while I travel. If you have any such thing I would be very greatful if you could share your pattern. Thank you Irene from Florida

Be careful wearing anything under your clothing except your underwear if you plan to fly! I am a gray-haired, 52 year old woman, and I have been searched (patted down like a common criminal) more times than I care to remember in the past two years. Everyone is fair game to the security people at the airports. I appreciate their efforts to keep our skies safe but if you fly a lot like I do just be prepared for the searches. If they find a pouch or anything out of the ordinary under your clothes you could be subjected to a strip search. Your best bet is to put your pouch in a suitcase and wear it after you get to your destination. I was accustomed to crocheting and doing other crafts to pass the time in the air but after 9-11 I could no longer take small scissors and other craft items on planes. Now I read and do crossword puzzles. aeromom

You can get some really good ones in the airports all over Europe, they're all the same manufacturer and they're on a little black revolving stand, in most of the shops (often in Tie Rack). They're not expencive and the workmanship is good - my dad has a suit carrier from the company and I plan to get one.

Hi Aeromom, Last time I flew I took some hand applique with me. I bought some baby nail scissors to cut the thread. They are allowed as they do not have sharp points. I had not problem. Before they allowed these scissors I took my dental floss in my stitch kit and used that to cut the thread.

Thanks LN, Those are very beautiful. I was wanting to make one and those are wonderful, but I can't make one like that. I guess I will just sew some fabric together and call it my money pouch. I also want to make one for my Mother. She is 77 and she has a fear of someone snatching her purse. Wish I could make one of those. They are sooooo pretty. Irene

Any small draw string bag will do. The last time I needed one, I crocheted a small pouch and pinned it to my bra :)

I've added zipper pockets to several pairs of pants, just for shopping. Sort of like a bound buttonhole with a zipper, setting the pocket just under the band on the pants front. They will safely hold my driver's license, a credit card, and a check or two.( Maybe even a dollar or two.) If you try this - use a nylon zipper. The metal one will really bite when you dig in to pay for your S.E.X. I enjoy wearing these when shopping so I don't have to even think about protecting a purse. Shopping purse-less does make you a target for all those who assume that you are a sales clerk. Sometimes I help them, sometimes I don't. Depends on my sense of humor at the time. Polly

I fold a sock & pin it inside the waistband of my slacks---I suspect I must look a trifle odd (ok, a lot odd) accessing it at times

My MIL's hiding place was her sewing machine.
