More Adoration blocks completed

That will be gorgeous. I admire appliqué but don't enjoy doing it.

nice job on those blocks, Julia. i reckon getting those 6 done since summer is not a bad effort. at this speed you should be able to finish the quilt in time for xmas 2009. well done you!! j.

How big is the finished project? There seems to be some fine detail work there.

Lovely blocks, Julia. I can see where you would need to be patient about a completion date. Lots of work in each one.

It's approximately 3 feet x 4 feet, so not real big. I never thought I'd enjoy hand appliqué, but after trying it, I found it quite relaxing. After doing the first block, I did the backgrounds for all the other blocks. That speeds things up a bit. I use the "freezer paper on top" method; I first saw that done by a woman whose work I really admired, so when I decided to give appliqué a try, I tried her method and found it worked well for me. One thing I like is that there is a minimum of prep work -- just iron on the freezer paper and cut out. I prep the appliqués a block at a time and package each block separately in zip-lock bags. I try to keep a few blocks ahead of the one I am actually sewing. There is a description of the "freezer paper on top" method under the caption of "**Now the Method I Use**" at
