I have now finished the sewing on Dora and am cutting out the squares for the cushion cover.

I really don't know why I worried, but thank you all.

Hi Dee, Water colour pencil, then I used a soft but firm watercolour brush to paint with water only. Each section was coloured in, painted then ironed. When all the colouring in had been done, I then put a sealer on it. I also washed it in cold water to see if it would run and it didn't. I ironed it while wet as well - all the iron was done in between two sheets of white paper to protect the ironboard cover.

Hope my niece doesn't wash in hot water though.

Send me your phone number and I will ring you.

Cheers,

Your Dora is adorable. How did you accomplish the raised edge on the edges? Did you couch or is that a seriously heavy thread or what? It looks just wonderful. Polly

That's adorable, Di! You did a great job on it. :) I just know it will be a beloved cushion for this little one.

Thanks Polly,

I used two strands of embroidery thread for the outline of Dora, three strands - two orange and one yellow - for the flowers and a dark and light brown for the hair. I did French knots for the pupils and the stamens of the flowers.

It feels really great to rub your hand over it and I thought Zoe would as well.

Hi Bev,

I used folkart Textile Medium "Plain" 794. I used a flat brush to put it on with. It's the one usually mixed with folkart paint, only I brushed it on.
