My husband needs fast prayers

I just talked to my husband, now not only is he stranded in Michigan with a truck with a blown engine, we believe he has that tissue infection (can't remember the name) in his right leg this time. He has no transportation. He is trying to find the # to the VA there and praying there is someone there to take him to the VA hospital. He has diabetes and that isn't helping. I need prayer too. I don't know how much more I can take.

Have him call the local police agency. They can direct him to help. Also most churches can offer assistance.

Kathy, I don't know where he is in Michigan, but here's a link to a Web site with the locations and phone numbers of the various hospitals and outpatient centers:

If you can't get to that Web site, let me know where he is, and I'll try to help you find the nearest center.

Kathy, I have been lifting up both you and your husband in prayer and will continue to do so. Sounds like he may have contacted a staph infection and maybe cellulitis in his leg. Cellulitis is common for diabetics if they have any kind of injury to the limb. I had it with my fall in Dec., will continue to pray and please keep us updated.

Kathy,

If he is in Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti, there is a VA hospital in AA --- AND Ypsi/Ann Arbor have mass transit...it should only run him about a dollar (one way -- unless fares have gone up) to get to the VA.....a phone call to the AATA should help him out with finding out times and stops (in case he can't get a ride from someone else).....The number for AATA should still be 734-996-0400.

Other than that, I don't know off hand where the VA hospitals are (I know about the one in AA because a friend works there)

Sending prayers...keep us updated....

Fingers are crossed...

My hubby is Type 1 diabetic, so I know the anxiety levels you can reach when things go awry.

Jacqueline,

We know all about cellulitis. He had it a yr or so ago and almost lost his leg. Now he listens to me when I say, get to the Dr. We are afraid that that is what it is again. Although he says he hasn't had any injuries. I guess we will find out tomorrow.

Kate,

Anxiety can really play havic with the blood sugar that I know. This all couldn't have happened at a worse time because we are trying to move out of here. ASAP

Mum's had that a couple of times: you don't always need an injury for it to set in! :(

More ((((HUGS)))) and prayers on the way.

Any stress, any infection - especially one that involves raised temperature! - is a right bugger. Just look after yourself, too: as I know well, you need to be fit to run if you have to!

Luckily DH is fairly stable at the moment: his insulin regime really suits him. But he's had other times when the hypo symptoms have vanished, and that's the danger point...

Kathy,

Most diabetics know all about it and it is one thing I wish I didn't know about. I have had it twice since I found out I am diabetic in Feb. 2004. I can keep my numbers in good control but the least little thing seems to cause cellulitis in me. I had a scratch on my arm and the next thing I know I have cellulitis, but the leg I was not shocked at all when it popped up. I mean after all it has been almost 10 months since I fell and I am still having major problems with it. I think I will be having surgery on my knee next month and pray I don't develop cellulitis from the surgery, if that is they way they decide to go. I wish they would make up their minds I am ready for this pain to end. I would love to sleep but I do not believe in pain meds unless I just cannot tolerate the pain and so far that is not the case, it is just an annoyance.

Still praying for your husband and you.

You can take a lot I think, you are a strong loving woman, I hope you and your husbands ordeal will soon be over and that he will be healthy and in your arms soon.

Do you mean cellulitis? My DH, who also has diabetis, had a very bad case of cellulitis following his triple bypass last year. It sure was nasty. He still has the scars. Hope your DH finds a medical attention quickly. You're both in my thoughts.....

There is one in Battle Creek--I have a couple of family members who work there. Don't know much about the bus system, but maybe if he called the VA hospital and explained his situation, they might find a way to get him there.

We might be able to help better if we knew generally what part of Michigan he's in. It's a big state. I live in the UP, and my family lives in Battle Creek. It's about an 8-hour drive from my house to my mom's, and we both live in the same state.

Prayers for you and your husband that you will all get through this. It's hard to be so far from a loved one when there is trouble.
