NAME GAME COLOUR CHALLENGE.. [ON-topic] -- Trying again

Sounds like fun. I just have too many projects on my plate right now. but Jade, Hot Pink, and Amethyst sounds like fun. Those aren't the kinds of colors I usually work with, so I don't even have pieces in my stash to try a block or two.

Don't want to put you off, but there is heather the color and heathered colors.

"Heathered" is a function of yarn-dye. That is, a variegated yarn is woven or knitted into a fabric.

Heather the color is as others have said a pinkish or bluish, greyed violet or lavender.

Never confuse the actual plant attached to a color name with the color. Sage is never sage green, marigolds are never marigold, and grapes are never grape. Sometimes it comes close though!

Imp really isn't the right word as he is getting his winter coat and this doubles his size!

I've never known a cat chage so completely according to the season. He's almost short haired in the summer, and his tail is quite scraggy. However now his tail is bushy like a squirrel's and he is growing his lion's ruff. I think his coat has grown about an inch too. His sister keeps giving him some very funny looks - can't understand why her little brother is changing into a BIG cat!

Shall we say January 30? That gives you time to put it all off until after the Christmas rush/New year's slump, and time to shop for some funky fabrics in the post-Christmas sales.

Regular dirt in VA is terra cotta, but the word dirt always makes me think of light to medium brown. Weird, huh? Debra in VA See my quilts at

I would use a classic color combination Daffodil, Royal blue, and Marshmallow if I had the time. However, tax classes will be held until tax season starts, and I have never studied so hard in my life. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Ah, that would be "earth" for us in the UK. Dirt is blacker and greasier when you have menfolk in a machine shop or doing vehicle maintenance ;-) It also likes to get under fingernails and might be the same as earth if you have been gardening.

And an earthy colour is exactly what I need... the colours in my diningrom are pale green, olive green and wheat coloured carpet... will be hanging burgundy curtains, so a little wallhanging in those 3 colours will do just nicely!! :)

If it's not sandy, you are lucky indeed.

When I plant trees and things I must be careful that the sides and bottom of the hole I dig are not shiny, smooth, and hard. If they are it is like planting something in an underground pot. The roots won't be able to break through past that barrier and the plant will become root bound and die. Debra in VA See my quilts at
