Welcome, Gina! I've just had a lovely tour through your quilts -- they're just beautiful. Did you design Patchwork in Perspective yourself? It's amazing! And I just love Into Africa; are the giraffes in the outer blocks quilted, or is that the fabric?

I am mostly self-taught too. Now I live in a rural area and there simply aren't many chances to get to classes. I teach several classes myself now, but would love to have more time to do my own work and to experiment.

Welcome, Many years ago my DH and I visited Caerphilly. Great castle, great cheese and friendly people. We loved your town and the townsfolk were very nice to two American tourists. Donna in Bellevue

Hi Sandy

In answer to your questions yes the Giraffes are quilted on the outside of the Into Africa quilt. I used the same template as the silhouettes and just went for it. I used variegated thread and lots of circles to give the effect of the markings.

Patchwork in Perspective is self designed, sort of. I went to a workshop to learn how to draft the pattern to give that effect but the choice of block etc is all mine.

You have a beautiful collection of quilts, Gina. I love the variety and multitude of colours. Your use of 'prints' is inspiring. It seems there is fabric 'out there' for any theme you need! (I love the sheep!). I haven't had time to 'do' the orchids yet - but I will. Stanley looks to be a real love - that's labs for you! Thanks for sharing. . In message , orchidlover writes

Hi Gina!

Wellcome to the group.

I am in Swindon... I am trying to learn hand applique by myself because I could not find a teacher here in swindon. I don't speak English so that makes things a litle bit difficult to me because 95% of the books and websites are in English... but.... I will do it... I am a good and fast learner. Nice pictures in your website, congratulations.

Welcome to a great group. We're all generally pretty chatty, except when we are quilting.
