New pictures and Question

Estelle, I don't see a Flickr link, and the Webshots link doesn't go to your site. :(

This should have been my reply. Been at the computer too long trying to figure this Flickr thing.

Estelle -- when YOU go to your webshots page -- in the address bar... after the webshots.com/user/ -- what comes next? in my case it is K_Groves.... if you tell us what it says when you go to your page -- then we can go there, too!

Not stupid at all, Estelle! Gosh, just one look at your beautiful work is indication enough of that! I loved your postcards -- how did you ever find that perfect fabric for the Night Falls card? And the batik charity quilt turned out gorgeous, as did the Goose. :)

Thank you Sandy. I made a stencil and used Markel sticks,( Shivas) on Black fabric.I have used them on a lot of the postcards.I like to use mostly my hand dyed /decorated fabric. Trying not to copy and be original is my goal! lol

Thanks 'J' - found her now! Wonder why some people have numbers at the end, and some, like Kate and I have names? I do like the clarity of the 'thumbnails' flickr has.

Estelle - you must have spent hours changing all those photos of your beautiful quilts, etc. over. I really must have another go at finding the safe place I put a couple of bag patterns that I had actually bought

- instead of downloading! I know where they used to be, but they aren't there any more!

Thanks Michelle. Its a log Cabin but after each Round you add a contrasting coloured square on the corner and snip off the back , just like a snowball block. Then add the next round and do the same.That probably as clear as mud! lol It was a fun quilt to make but took me about 4 years to finish. I plan to do another whilst its clear in my mind. Steaming with a steam iron has worked fairly well.

Actually, I did get the concept from your description. :-)

As far as the length of time it took you to finish the goose chase/log cabin, I've got you easily beat. I'm getting ready to handquilt a top I started over 10 years ago. It's hand-pieced, and I didn't work on it steadily, however finally finished it a couple of months ago. (I'm waiting for winter to start the quilting.) AND, I have another top that was started well over 10 years ago, and has been finished for the last 3 or 4; it just needs to be quilted. One day....

I have you all beat, though not in the quilting department. I recently finished (crewel) embroidering a table runner I started 18 YEARS ago. Count 'em, 18 YEARS. Sheesh. I would put it aside for years at a time, of course, and finally just had enough of seeing it unfinished in the bottom of my needlework box, so I worked on it steadily for a few weeks and got it done.

Of course now I'm considering learning how to tat to make a lace border for it.

I'm beginning to think it may take years to finish my first quilt, because I'm afraid of spoiling it and want to do some other, simpler quilting projects to build up my skills before destroying this pretty quilt top.
