New quilting table

Maybe I'm starting to develop some version of a quilting studio! My "living room" is 30' by 50' because I designed the house to have a big open space for music, art, books, entertaining, dining, etc. etc. I have long had a big, grubby table (slightly larger than a dining table) for messy work in one corner of the room, a few steps from my SM. Over the weekend, I covered it with smooth vinyl and raised it up on cinder blocks. Not very elegant, but I'm thrilled with the functionality. I've piled up pretty boxes, baskets, and oil painting gear around the cinderblocks to conceal them. Actually, a big storage area appeared on the floor when I elevated the table.

The table is now just the right height for marking, cutting, spray basting, etc. My back is very relieved! And the tabletop has no snags, unlike my dining table, which I've been using.

And I am absolutely amazed how much more quickly I can work in a comfortable, spacious work area. I can well imagine how much some of you enjoy working in the beautiful studios you've created.

Well done EP. When my daughter returned to live at home I had to move out of her bedroom into a much much smaller room for my sewing and computering. I am not happy about it as my bedroom has taken the overflow and I now have to use the dining table for the cutting, basting, sewing etc. of my projects. Then put it all away to eat at the table.

I do so envy those which a BIG studio although mine will never be called that because of the family history folders that fill the bookshelves together with the sewing notions.

Maybe one day I'll get 'my' room back.
