Today the 4th is a rainy gray day here in South Mississippi. Being cooler than the past two weeks is a blessing.
Since it is raining I decided to go to the quilt room and sort more fabric and scan it into my computer.
I got tired of doing this and decided to go through my old quilt mags and toss those I no longer wanted.
Well I picked one dated Spring of 1992. I leafed through it and came upon a pattern for a double Irish Chain. The pattern piece is 3 inches finished. The instructions state the quilt is 67 inches by 85 inches. The quilt is 3 blocks wide and 5 blocks long with half blocks used as a border. Back in those days I was fairly new to quilting and this quilt would have driven me nuts trying to get it to fit the dimensions called out.
Thank goodness I am relatively good at math because the quilt construction called out in the instructions will not come out to 67 x
- It's more like 57 x 87.
Think I'll plug everything into EQ5 and see how this puppy will look using actual fabric.
Oh as for watching fireworks. We are allowed to set them off on our own property. The neighbors always put on a big display every year and I will be sitting in my picture window watching the show. Can hardly wait to 9 p.m. With all the rain for the past week we shouldn't have any wildfires.
