OT: another QI goes over the bridge...

My cherished 17 yr old spaniel, Crikit, is going to head over the Rainbow Bridge tomorrow....She had a massive stroke and the Vet says there is no hope. She cant eat, sleep, walk and it looks like it was so bad, she became blind in her right eye. i wish i could stop the crying. i just dont know if i'll be able to function tomorrow afterwards....i've had her since she was 8 weeks old. please send good thoughts and prayers..... amy in CNY

Many gentle hugs to both of you, Amy. This is the hardest moment of our lives with our beloved pets. Thank goodness Crikit has you to care for her and do what's right.

I'm so sorry -- this is so hard for anyone to do -- especially for a pet so long a member of your family.

Know that all of us who have been down that road before.... will send our pets to welcome Crikit on the other side.

Amy, you gave Crikit a wonderful, loved filled life for 17 years and she loved you with all she had to give. Now comes the hardest part of loving an animal- the time to let them go peacefully. All of us who love their furry children know how terribly difficult and painful this is for you and we will all be with you in spirit. Go ahead and cry and mourn. You are losing a dear and precious friend. I'm so sorry.

Hugs,

Leslie

My Ralphie and Barron will be waiting there for her, too. It's the kindest thing to do when you know it's time to "let them go" and not to suffer anymore. Your Crikit will be waiting for you at the bridge wagging her tail!

So sorry Amy. Such a very long, happy life with you; it is understandable that you will be very sad. Do allow yourself time to grieve for her. . In message , amy in CNY writes

Amy, I'm so sorry. I know how awfully hard this can be, but our tears are a safety valve to let us mourn and come to terms with our loss. {{{Hugs}}}}

Definitely sending good thoughts and big hugs - one of the hardest things we have to do in life. Don't worry - Dalton will be there to meet her and he's a real Dacshie gentlemen so she'll be in good hands. I know the hurt you're going thru, but the memories will live on. It's been 3 or 4 years now and I miss that little fatso so much. They know we loved them, we know we loved them and always will.

She reached a very good age. It's sad that it ended like this, but she had a very good life with you.

{{{{{Amy}}}}} The way to deal is to remember that this is the last loving gift you can give your "baby". And remember that we are here for you -- we have all gone through exactly the same thing and we know exactly what you are having to deal with. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers and cyber-hugs. it means alot to me. it was a very emotional weekend, but in the end, it was the right thing to do. the vet said on her last visit she weighed 59 pounds...that was Easter time. she weighed 38 pounds saturday...poor dear. the stroke had left her blind, limping and confused.

i know all the furry friends will be there at the Bridge for a romp and drool. your kindnesses are most appreciated.

Thanks.. amy in CNY

Amy, it's going to be rough for quite a while yet. Every once in a while it will hit really hard that Crikit isn't there with you.... and sometimes it will seem like she's just in the other room and out of your sight. Let the mourning process go along as it may... it's very normal when someone you love is no longer there. I truly hope that someday you will feel the desire to honor Crikit by bringing another dog into your life. Please think of the many deserving-of-homes dogs in the animal shelters when the time comes.

With cyber hugs from me and sloppy, doggy-breath kisses from The HairyButt Gang,
