OT: but a VERY serious question....

Pittsburgh Steelers .... or Arizona Cardinals??????

If you **HAD** to choose a team... who would it be... and why?

Me... I'm a bird watcher (I love my songbirds....) so I guess I need to root for the Cardinals...

But I probably won't be watching...

PS -- Ryan worked at the grocery today from 8 - 3; He said it was worse than Thanksgiving! LOL One man took 2 carts out -- all full of Doritos and other chips! He thought that was really funny. One other man had a cart full of beer... -- no food -- just beer.

He's just happy to be home! (and that it was 40 degrees and sun-shiny today! Pushing all those carts in 10 degrees would have been wicked!

I have to go with the Cardinals. Their quarterback is from Iowa and is a good guy. Plus I lived in Arizona for 17 years.

The Cardinals beat our Philadelphia Eagles so I hope they are good enough to beat the Steelers. But don' t tell my DH..........

After church this morning, I heard a lady say that she was rooting for the "Winners"! I liked that, and decided to do the same! Also heard on TV, that this is the busiest day of the year for pizza shops!

My official position, which I've had to state a number of times over the last couple of weeks, is this:

No Colts, No Bears, No pig watching.

That said......argh.

A close friend is from Pittsburgh. If you go back to their birth, the Cardinals were the Chicago Cardinals.

So there are peripheral connections to both, but not strong ones.

I think I go back to my basic premise (No Colts, No Bears....), and if I do end up watching any of it, I won't know who I'm a fan of until I see which is the best commercial. :)

I always root for the underdog - this time I think it's the Cardinals. And I'm hoping the sportscaster know-it-alls are rooting for the Steelers. It makes my black little heart smile when they have to swallow their "I told you so" pomposerosity. Polly

Ditto on both counts, except we lived in Arizona for only 8 years, but the Cardinals arrived in town while we were there. Kurt Warner grew up and went to school in the city next to ours (actually, I think his family lived in our town when he was born).

DH's cousin's DDIL recently finished a round of radiation, which followed a bone marrow transplant, which required some nasty chemo for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Her latest reports are good and sounds like she's in good spirits. She's a big Steeler fan, so I want the Steelers to win for her. Other than that, I wouldn't care at all. I'm not a football fan -- except that I know that the rest of my family is always in a better mood when the Packers win. :)

Its a bit late, but I have to support the Cards. We went out for late lunch/early supper and on the way home a bit ago DH mentioned how little traffic there is out here in the Valley at the moment. Streets are almost deserted.

Personally, I am not really a sports fan, but I am an Arizona fan and understand what a Cardinals Super Bowl win could do for our state's economy. And we need it too.....

So far, it's been a good game. I liked the singing in the pre-game activities. Both Faith Hill and Jennifer Hudson did their songs - and their country - proud. I think the passengers of the flight that landed in the Hudson should have been invited to the game well as the crew. No matter how well the crew did their job, if the passengers didn't follow their instructions it would have been a different outcome. Not to diminish what the crew did to be sure. But I truly feel that event was a team effort all the way.

Commercials are so-so but that's to be expected with the cost per minute (or is that cost per second?). So far, the LMAO, talking babies and Clydesdale commercials are my favorites.

The hundred yard run was outstanding - we'll be seeing that on every newscast ad infinitum!

This year I am rooting for the Maple Leafs in all sporting events. I have great hopes for them in the World Series, if they can get used to mandatory high sticking.

Game? What game? :-o) Both LQS's opened up today for a "Super Bowl Sunday" sale, during the game. It was awesome. All high quality fabrics. One room was 50% off, "everything else"

35% off. Patterns, backing, gorgeous fabric. Fat quarters $1. It was the best Super Bowl Sunday I can remember.

Game over...Steelers win. Looked like it was going to be a yawner before halftime...but the ending was exciting.

Gee, I thought the Cardinals were in St Louis, so I guess I'm outta the loop.

In 1983 when DD was just a few months old, we were in Garden City, Kansas where DH was working construction. I found a tiny black and gold Pittsburgh Steelers sweat suit in a department store and I put that thing on her and took her to a Super Bowl party. The Steelers won, so I've always had a soft spot for them. The sweat suit could just have easily been the other team colors, I didn't care. I still have that little track suit somewhere or other. She looked so cute.

But the St Louis Cardinal football team used to be in St Louis, as well. Now the St Louis Cardinal football team is in Arizona.

Go figure.

...and my son loved the Steelers so much growing up as a kid, his bedroom was all done in Steelers colors with sheets, bedspread, curtains, accessories, etc.

Maybe I didn't see what I thought I saw - but there was a penalty against the Steelers - and they showed somebody - I'm thinking it was Steeler #61 Harrison - taking his fists and pounding the guts out of a Cardinal. Did you see that? Did I see that? Astounded and dismayed. Polly
