OT: Crochet Question

I need someone who crochets (and can decipher written directions from a book) to help me figure out a pattern so I explain to my mom.

She knows how to chain stitch, single crochet and double crochet. But she learns by being shown how to do it -- not by reading instructions from a pattern.

So if I copy/paste the pattern in an email -- can you explain it in regular people talk? (The pattern is in a beginner's book -- and is labeled "easy".)

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, Kate. I crochet but chances are pretty slim that I am skilled enough to read and translate a pattern. There are several hookers in our group and you probably need to wait until they get their turkey in the oven or get over the river and through the woods. Crocheting was very dear to DH's mother but she was also a 'show me' sort. Written patterns were simply blather to her. Hang on. Help is coming. Polly

I can crochet and read instructions. If you send them to me at snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.com I will see if I can make them clearer.

My hooking skills amount to doing enough of a "kinda" chain stitch to make button loops......*IF* I hold my mouth just right while I'm working on them. I can tat up a storm but can't knit or crochet to save my life.......go figure :-|

Kate, I'll be happy to help. I usually have to translate the patterns for myself before I begin. The makers always seem to make things more difficult than they really are! Send what you have to blackwell _ kim @ hotmail . com - take out the spaces.
