OT Epcot

The boys and I together with my MIL are visiting my sister-in-law next month. She lives in FL and I want to take the boys to Epcot for a day. We all (me & boys, SIL, nephew & MIL) are already spending two days at SeaWorld and the others don't want to do Epcot - my nephew is too young and MIL has "done" Epcot. From the UK I can only book at least a 5 day pass at about £200 per person. I can't even SEE the dollar prices. I am damned if I'm going to ask for SIL's help on this one as my wanting to do it is already seen as extremely inconvenient :-( So can someone from the RCTQ oracle help me find out how much it would cost for a one day Epcot ticket for 1 adult, 1 11yo and 1 8yo ?

Thanks

Lizzy, never been there. nosing around tells me they really want to sell you multiple days. I did find a link that said $71 for adults and $60 for kids 3-9. Your 11 yo looks to be adult with Disney. (seems everyone should be a kid at Disney instead of the other way around)

I found the info on this site:

and you should be able to find out all you'd want to know about anything at WDW. Hope this helps.

Howdy!

Another site w/ info for one-day tickets:

formatting link
Ticket Prices: (Effective August 3, 2008)

One-day BASE ticket: $75.00 (Ages 10+) - $63.00 (Ages 3-9) Add Park Hopper $50.00; add Water Park Fun & More $50.00 (2 visits)

Maybe you or the in-laws can come up w/ some discount coupons (around here, the soda pop cans offer a discount for 6 Flags Over Texas, some grocery stores offer the coupons, some are printed on shopping bags). Check the local tourist office [ours is across the street from The Ballpark, 2 blocks from 6 Flags]; they stock coupons for "local attractions", as many tourist offices do.

Have you already asked about quilt shops in that area?

have all been listed here before; other RCTQers can help. ;-) Cheers! Have a great visit!

Have you thought about just waiting until you get to Disney to Epcot to get your tickets? I haven't been in 3 or 4 years due to illness in the family, but $71 sounds like it could be the correct price. Barbara in Central FL

We paid $159.76 for two tickets to Epcot three weeks ago. Looked and looked and never found any discount tickets unless you wanted to stay in one of the Disney resorts. Then, you got a discount on your tickets. Since we stayed in a timeshare for far less than we would have paid at a Disney resort, we paid the full amount for Epcot. We paid at the gate. There were "discount" tickets being sold around the area, but you had to buy a two or three day pass and we only wanted to go the one day to Epcot only.

Yes, but from the UK without the help of this group I couldn't see the daily rates. Disney's all too clever webpages can tell that I'm looking from the UK and only give me 5+ day options.

Thanks everybody all for your help. Now I know what I will be paying. When viewing from the UK the Disney site doesn't even mention that you can buy a daily ticket at the gate!

The only discount I have heard of for Disney tickets is at AAA. If your local family are members, they can buy tickets at the office, but I don't think there is much of a discount on a 1 day pass. DH and I get a Florida resident seasonal pass, and save about $20 at AAA (we are members of CAA). AAA is the American Auto Assoc. If you haven't been to Disney parks before, don't forget to try their Fastpass system. You use your ticket (which is returned) to get a Fastpass. It gives you a time to return to the ride, and you enter through a special line, usually a lot shorter! If you miss your time, usually the Fastpass is good all day, after the first time on the ticket. It also tells you when you can get another Fastpass. Don't miss Soarin', Test Track, and Mission Space (it has 2 choices - a non-spinning ride for a less intense trip to Mars). The entertainment in the world showcase is quite good. Pick up an entertainment guide when you enter the park, so you know which group is playing at which time.

Hope you have a good time.

I wasn't after discounted tickets, just a method to find the standard daily rates. The Disney websites sniffs your originating IP address to find out which country you are in and automatically shows you only the options available for purchase from your home country. I could find no way to over-ride this "feature".

Thanks for the tips I shall be printing out a list.

I'm sure we will. The weather has got to be better than here - we have snow forecast again for next week!

I learned how to do this from a computer geek (but have forgotten the details)...but basically you want to set up a "proxy" so that your computer goes thru a site in the states before going to the Disney site. If you google on "usa proxy" you can find IP addresses of proxy sites...then you have to configure your TCPTP settings for your network connections properties to use the desired proxy address. It's a bit of pain to do and not really useful as a default setting but sometimes it can be useful. :)

Lizzy,

If you go into the Wild Animal Kingdom at WDW, be sure to say hi to my daughter. She is doing an 6 month internship over there. She said she loves her job so much that she can't wait to get up in the morning to go to work!
