Headed to the hospital. Got an email and then call at work today from Bert. Our daughter was headed to surgery for a ruptured appendix. Mom is on her way up on Friday so the troops have rallied. Taking care of some things here at home then off I go.
I hope by now she is through surgery and on her way to a speedy recovery. Good to have people that love you around. Hugs to you all, Taria

Finally home. Long afternoon and evening at the hospital.
Things went well and surgery only took about 45 minutes and an hour in recorvery. Totally ruptured and fell apart on removal and an abscess about the size of a plum. Feels much better already. Next two days are important on the infection front.
Thanks for the goods thoughts and all. Now wrapping up the evening to get to bed to get to work and monitor testing again tomorrow. Long week with the election Tuesday, this today, and more over the next two days. Waiting for the weekend.
Good thoughts are on their way! How old is your daughter? Normally you suffer terrible pains before the blasted thing goes ker-woosh. I know, I had mine out age 10, and was in pain before for some time, climaxing in a violent eruption at both ends of my body during a swimming lesson. They insulted me by assuming that I had entered the pool without cooling myself properly beforehand. My homeopathic practitioner had a ruptured appendix not too long ago, too, and she wasn't even diagnosed correctly in the first place. As a result she also suffered a peritonitis, and it took her ages to recover. However, classic homeopathy helps a lot (and you needn't believe in it; you don't believe in antibiotics, but they still work), provided you have a good HP at hand.
Anyway, I keep my fingers crossed for her, no matter what her age is, and for you, too.
She's doing well today. Less pain so less pain pump. Getting ansty lying in bed and being in the hospital so trying to get up and walk around. May be released tomorrow. Will get home just in time for Mom to show up from lower 48. Surprise! Wants to get back to work already. I'm sure the firm will survive for a bit.
Kids are all the same, no matter their ages - indestructible!
After having our DD go through a heart op in February, she couldn't wait to get going again, the rest of us are still recovering and she goes around like "what's wrong with you lot? I was the one that had the procedure!"
What can you say, just give them a big hug and be thankful they feel so well, even if we are in a pile on the floor in the corner wondering what the **** just happened.......

Make her "go easy' even if'n she dont wanna. Most Dr's will tell you it takes 6 WWWWEEEKKKKS to get the first round of healing done...not days. Threaten the 2/3 of you will 'sit on her' if she dont wanna listen to you. Complications are NOT fun. Might be tome for her and Mom to start writing 'family stories/traditions/etc ' to keep her busy with something of interest to both of them. Do it NOW while the stories are easier to remember.
Gosh, I'm coming in late.....but I sure hope her recovery is quick. I worked for a surgeon for 20 yrs...appendectomies are certainly "quick", but the recovery is essential. She'll feel better about the 3rd day after and want to run and play, but the 4th to about the 2nd week, she'll need rest, rest, rest. Lots of TLC and things to keep busy. Happy Easter, hope she's home soon.
