OT - got a phone call

Larisa called me last night after the craft show, for the first time in years. It was so good to hear her voice on the other end. I think she's going to make it now. So on her behalf, thank you for all your prayer and support during this trying time. I know her posts get a little long and detailed at times, but she doesn't have anyone to talk to. I've learned something since I became a grown-up. Women need other women. I know I for one and glad y'all are here! : )

Karen, women do need other women. It's something we don't acknowledge often enough. I think of Larisa as a friend, just like I think of you and the other good folks here. Here posts are conversations with a friend. And when a friend needs a shoulder, well.... that's why God made shoulders. I think she's a fine, strong, amazing woman and she always has my prayers and good thoughts. And so do you. Thank you for being a good enough friend to all of us to bring the needs of one of our own to our attention.

Thanks to all. I'm exhausted, but making it to bed early is helping me get back on my feet. Didn't sell anything today, but more cards were taken, which is also a very good thing.

As for not talking to Karen on the phone in years....think the last time was in the hsopital after Rebekah was born....she's now 4.5 years old!!!

Bek is sick once again, but I think it's just a simple cold, nothing extremely scary. We are spaying Lysol like there's no tomorrow, so hopefully the sickness will stop soon....we're in week 9 now and it's crazy.

Yes, women need women friends. That is why it is so helpful to join a quilting group, or a church group, or a civic club, or any local organization where one will be able to find a friend or two. It is nice to be able to have a face to face friend, one who will share both joy and sorrow, keep confidences, and who will make one laugh. I like the RCTQ community, but I treasure my real life friends. After all, what is posted here is certainly not private. I hope everyone here has (or makes effort to find) opportunity to find friends in their home community, as well as via email. Now I will be humming "I get by with a little help from my friends!" all day ..... LOL!! PAT in VA/USA

Just read the other day that the average kid gets 10 (Yes TEN) colds per year--that figures to one every month--taking summer off? Then there are summer colds...that can be construed as allergies.......and then there are allergies that are considered 'colds'

I agree wholeheartedly with you, Pat! When I first joined RCTQ eleven years ago this Sunday, I was living in a very small town with no quilt group to join and no way to take classes without traveling over two hours each and missing work into the bargain. I still love RCTQ, but having face-to-face friends is *so* important! Now that I live somewhere that offers quilty contacts (and I'm retired), I can have both -- and I do.
