OT: House Sale

Just had a phone call from our Estate Agent to say that we should be exchanging contracts in the next 2 weeks and complete in about 4 weeks time!!!!!

Aaaaaggghhhhhhhh! I don't know if I'm happy dancing or not............. so much to pack and sort OMG what are we doing.........I know, I know, we've been waiting forever (2yrs) for this, but......aaaagggghhhhhhh!!!!!!

I'm meant to be making a ring pillow for a friends wedding and tying a quilt and lots of other stuff, so that I can pretend that this isn't really happening.

Don't get me wrong, we DO want to move - it is just that it is a bit scary! Watch out France, here we come !!!! I'll just be happy, once we've moved and are settled again - what have we started :o) DH finishes work at the end of next month - being made redundant, so the timing is good. We can then go and order our Motorcaravan that we've been dreaming of.

Yee Haw! ;)

Chew a finger nail or two...

DON't pack: let the movers do that - it's what you're paying them for! The only thing you need to pack is your clothes. You can tell them how to pack the sewing machines and stuff properly, but if YOU pack them, their insurance won't cover it.

I've moved 21 times with my parents... Moved several times since I left home, but not for 22 years!

Wow, moving to a new country, I'm just moving a few states. If you do the packing, label the boxes well. This is soooo important. (My first move, I had 15 boxes that said "kitchen". What an idiot.) Include an "open me first" box. It may have a box cutter (for opening the other boxes), basic cleaning supplies, toilet paper, aspirin , emergency chocolate supply --- whatever you think you might need immediately. Good luck in your new adventure. Shana

How exciting, Janner! And, yes, I think it must be a bit scary, too. But best of luck getting everything done and getting settled happily into your new home. :)

Last time we moved 10yrs ago, we lost the kettle - not good!! Oh yes, and some curtains - wonder what ever happened to them?

Like the open me first box. Have been trying to label clearly - that we'll discover at the other end!

Most of our stuff including my stash is going into storage for up to 1 yr! We've got to sort immediate needed stuff, which we'll store at my parents. That is why we're buying a Motorhome (RV) so we'll have room for kids and their stuff and 2 cats, clothes (all seasons!), bedding, shoes and books! We're renting a house when we move for over the winter and then buy/rent somewhere more permanently.

Since I've started packing, have realised that we own an awful lot of books, but I'm not getting rid of them!! I love them too much!!!

Thanks for the great vibes

Janner, feeling a little calmer now, chocolate helped ;o)

Oh what a wonderful relief for you, Janner. It does seem ages since you said you were planning to go to live in France; house-selling is a dire experience and no mistake. Are you going to rent in France first, or live in the Motorcaravan until you find somewhere? Have you a specific area in mind? (I watch Place in the Sun sometimes >gggJust had a phone call from our Estate Agent to say that we should be

Howdy!

This is exciting! Yeah, scary, too, but that just goes w/ most BIG decisions/moves. The exciting is much bigger than the scary. Yeeee-Haw!

Why the move to France? What will y'all do there? Live in the Motorcaravan full-time? Travel from job to job? Live off the land? Do I have more questions? Yes!

This is so cool, Janner. Congrats and Good Luck on the sale. Got boxes? Start packing. It will make the quilty stuff easier to find.
