OT I'm Baaack...

Several days, or maybe weeks, ago our ISP started having problems with their news feed. It seems that it may be coming back to normal, it's nice to 'see' you all again :-)

I wish I could quilt, or at least piece my bag together but the pile of sewing for DS has just grown into a mountain. Went to pick up DS from DM and took a pile of fabric, all for DS. The mountain consists of 2 pair PJ's, 3 pair track pants, 4 pull on vests, and a jacket, plus the trousers I'm currently working on. At least once the trousers are done most of the other stuff can be just run through my overlocker/serger, until hems and elastic casings :-)

It seems that we've still got hiccups in the news feed, not getting any new posts. I'm off to read new messages through Google :-( what a pain...

my isp quit using their usual newsgroups feed, whatever that was, but i can still get it thru outlook express by putting nntp.aioe.org in the setup for the server. so that might also work for you in your usual ng reader, Linux? i've not used that but my dd's SO is a computer techy by trade and sets up Linux systems for his customers. they keep trying to get me to use it but i think i'm too lazy to figure out a new system. braindead across the ditch, j.

If your ISP is causing the problems, you might need to play with the "port" you use for the newsgroup, too. msn.com blocks the two most common newsgroup ports, and sometimes I have to play around with the one I use in order to get my posts to "post" -- the page on the aioe.org website that lists the ports they use has been very valuable in the last few weeks. I sometimes have to try three or four different ports before I find one that is letting messages through that day.

The problem is not with our ISP but the news feed to our ISP, so it depends on where our ISP is getting it's news feed from it could be anywhere up stream of our ISP. Messages are coming through in random dribs and drabs.
