Thank goodness! Thank goodness you found the other home/structural problems before they caused a bigger problem. My dad was a carpenter; he taught me to "handle it before the house falls down" - which is what our home always looked like, about to fall down. "But first" is my way of doing most projects, house, painting, quilting, yard work: determine the goal, then back up from there; you want a cool bathroom, but first - you have to do this, but first that has to be removed, but first this has to be patched, but first.. and on it goes until you get to the real beginning (which often makes you want to quit ... or quilt). Hang in there; you'll get thru' this. Remodeling is like pregnancy, seems to take forever, lots of "labor pains", costs more money than you expected, & finally you have a beautiful result... without the messy spit-up. Re: your first sentence: can you diagram that, Teach? ;->

No, I can't diagram that. I'm young enough that that was out of vogue before I hit grade school. I do have a couple of websites bookmarked to look through them. My mom actually liked diagramming sentences.
The vanity came out today. Bert wanted to secure the pipes since they weren't. Good thing he did. The drywall there was all wet. Commode comes out soon. Will do new drywall a foot up along that wall as well, then good all the way around. Sigh.

Well, we're doing okay. I really get satisfaction from doing it myself. I'm actually somewhat good at some of this. I think Dad would have been proud. It might go faster but we're particular too. I have asked advice from the shop teachers at school and that has been helpful. We did have the plumbing done by our neighbor though. I'm not tackling that because I don't know how at all and am not comfortable with doing it. Wiring? Replacing a light is one thing. Anything else and I say no. We have a short list of wiring needs and will call an electrician once this is all done to come out and do a few things.
